I don't like that module very much, the sounds are very thin in my ears. Especially Hammonds.

I have the keyboard equivalent, the Vintage Keys VK-6. I really like it. But, it's an E-MU, the presets suck, they need layering to thicken the sounds up (E-MU architecture supports up to 4 layers per patch (you can link up to 3 patches together to get 12 layers, but obviously at the expense of polyphony) but most presets only use 1 or 2 layers).

It's a very versatile soundset, and with a little bit of tweaking can give great results. I'm not over enamoured with the Hammond sounds, they're passable, but I have the B-3 soundset for those sounds. The Moog sounds are good, and there's a great collection of Oberheim sounds, Junos, Mellotron, etc. I use the sounds a lot in my music, although I often layer them with sounds from other ROMs as I have both my E-MU synths fully loaded with expansion cards giving me 128Mb of ROM in each.

All in all, it's a very useful module, particularly at the current price (£299 in the UK), and if you're prepared to get your hands dirty and play around with the deceptively simple programming architecture, you will come out with some great results and not regret the purchase. Don't let a 10 minute play in a music shop give you the full impression though!

One thing to be said, there are *far* too many electric piano samples for my taste... do you really need 4 different CP-70 samples?!? :?

@ Spacehog: Thanks for that reply! The presets really suck I only tested it in a store, that seemed to be the problem. I think this device has a lot of possibilities.
