Okay, I was synth-browsing today, and I came upon the Access Virus Ti demo video...I must say, I'm quite impressed. That thing has some features that you cant find on the roland, Triton, motif es, or yes, even the OASYS. All those competitors. Okay, I know I sound crazy but keep reading. Probably one of my FAVORITE features of the Virus...is true dynamic patch allocation, something I havent seen on most synths. When you play a note even with effects like reverb, chorus, and even arpeggios applied to it, and change the patch, the sound will not be interrupted. We all know that each of our keyboards has that annoying patch change glitch on it..even the OASYS. But thats because our keyboards have Global Effects. The Virus does not. Its TRUE dynamic patch allocation, NO annoying glitch during a patch change. You could be playing an arpeggio and switch to a different sound and be playing along with that other patch and keep on doing it (effects still applied) and continue until a release phase. Very cool. Thats the first synth I've seen that can do that.

Onto the other features. Also, the synth sounds are INCREDIBLY versatile, more manipulatable. The Virus has virtually every kind of wave, bassline, and pad you can think of. One of the newest and tightest sounds is the HyperSaw patch. Okay, when you combine this thing with its Plug-In, which sits in your sequencer host (like cubase), it acts like your patch library, and the regular software in which you can further manipulate your sounds on your tracks. The software is very user-friendly and get this, you connect the Virus to your Computer with ONE USB cable, for either a MIDI or AUDIO setup. This keyboard gets down to business. You can apply VST effects to the sounds, which are already extremely versatile. So the synthesis options are virtually limitless. I really want to save up for one of these (2800 USD). Hope you enjoyed my little critique.

Man, I want one, bad. But I can't justify it right now. :(

Up to 32 oscillators per voice, that's mind-blowing. Those poor folks who grab the Nord Stage only get one oscillator per voice. Ouch. Granted, they're different beasts, but still...

And now for a different point of view. I love the Virus filters. I'm glad they are introducing a hyper-saw. I haven't heard the new oscillators. I'm sure the wavetables in the TI are fun. I hope the supersaw is better than the regular stale bread oscillators of the virii family.

I like the efx flexibility and the Digital I/O. It a great board for a techno/studio kinda of guy. But if I was spending $2800, I'd look to analog first (Andromeda or PEK). It's just that you can hear the difference, especially live. IF I was getting a VA, I''d look into something like a G2X which has an performance interface to die for. In fact I'm looking into one.

Speaking of the hypersaw, is there anything unique about it other than the sheer number of saws? As I mentioned in my most recent thread, I programmed a combi with 16 saws in various increments of detuning, but it still doesn't compare to the one on the TI.
