LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Four members of seminal British rock band Pink Floyd will play together for the first time in 24 years at London's Live 8 charity concert for Africa on July 2, publicists for the event said on Sunday.

Guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason and keyboard player Richard Wright will be on stage with bassist Roger Waters for their first public performance since they played at London's Earls Court in 1981.This is truly unbelievable, but if it was ever going to happen for anything, it would be for these purposes, Roger being the inveterate social conscience that he is.

I honestly don't know how this will work out, though - will they have a four-piece, or will they include, say, Jon Carin (who played on both Roger and Floyd's last tour)? Who will sing what? Will any material from the post-Final Cut albums (Floyd's or Waters') appear? And, of course, who will throw the first punch? ;)

In any instance, truly marvellous news.

Honestly, I kinda wish they'd just pull out the vintage 1970-era gear, wear their old show clothes, and pick up right where they left off. ;)

Indeed !

I saw them in 1988 at Wembley Stadium - still one of the very best gigs of my life...

Let's hope they put out a DVD of the concert. I think they will sound very good.

Sorry for everybody, but the tickets are already sold out. You had to send and sms and hope to be extracted beteew 2 millions people. They have already chosen the 1,200 lucky guys who will see the show. Furtunately I heard that the italian tv bought the show so I will see the concert in television. Better than nothing. Shine on people, shine on...

Nah shit. I guess I'mm doomed to die without seing my favourite band live ever in my life. Why was I born so goddamn late?? And why are my parents so absolutely illiterate when it comes to music? My girlfriend's parents took her to a Yes concert when she was 3, and she isn't even a Yes fan. Some people get all the fuckin' luck.

I wish. The tickets were distributed through a lottery system, so that's one thing, and I doubt I could get a passport in time, anyway. However, it is going to be broadcasted on various networks, so I'll be sure to catch it.

And thanks, man. :)

I'm just a fan. I'm sure there are others who are more deserving. I'm just happy that I'm going to see the 'classic' lineup all together (minus Syd, of course), as it should be, on TV or whatever broadcast medium will carry the UK concert over the pond.

I wish you and your buddies luck.
