Got an XP-30 and it should be compatible. I'm not sure if the cheaper RS boards have the same presets...

Well, I've got it and mastered that board.... With organs, what you have is what you get....If you want that distorted organ in the begining of Erotomania, take Rock Organ 1 and add distortion...about 100. But if you're looking for a raw swet sounding B-3, buy a module. The organ sounds aren't great. The plain organ patches [not elec. organ, just straight organ] probably are the best.
I made a prog lead, close to JRs in SFAM. Take talk box from HLD and layer it ontop of Dual Sqr and Saw from PLS. add reverb and add FX #23. Add a tad of portamento, about 25 on each channel and put the solo switch on. Something like that....should sound ok.
Don't expect too much out of this board. If you got any other q's, just ask!
well it's a pretty cheap keyboard but i think it has very good sounds in it!!! thanks for your advice.. can u made nice mellotron sounds with it?? thanks SAM

I have the RS-9,
basically I only use it for piano, and as a controller. There are about 3 different organ sounds in the stock patches, but they don't offer much other than a layerable sound you can combine (which I do, with a Proteus and a JD-800). For a decent B-3 there are 2 roland expansion cards for the JV series. I wanted this too, so I picked up a JV-880 on ebay for 100 bucks, and the Vintage keys expansion board for about 80 bucks. You may also want the 60sand70's card, which has a lot of B3 and Rhodes. (The Vintage keys has more of the oberheim textures, but I was able to get 3 sweet B3's that I needed from it.) I still like the RS boards, but Piano and key action (88 semi-weighted keys) as well as portability (It weighs very little) were the factors that motivated me to buy mine.
