Now that I have bought the Full Score Anthology, I just started off trying to play Peruvian Skies, because this should be the easiest one in that book.
I think I'll give the Performance Mode another try... I've set a User Performance on Single Layer and I already have edited the patches in the correct order. The question refers to the effects again... I know that I have to use the same effects for every part in the Performance, but how do I copy the effects of a Patch in the Patch Mode?
E.g., p1 in my Performance Mode is the 64VoicePiano, but the effects aren't correctly. How do I copy the effects with the patch in the Performance Mode!
I'm really thankful for every help...

What program are you using to edit the XP-30?

The question refers to the effects again... I know that I have to use the same effects for every part in the Performance, but how do I copy the effects of a Patch in the Patch Mode?
1) This is how I do it. In performance mode, if you go to the efx page ... the second menu has a field called: Type and Source. Just set the source to be the part you want. (Say part 1). The XP will figure out the EFX settings for that patch and apply that to all parts that have the EFX toggle turned on.
2) But what if you want the efx from a patch but you don't want the patch in the performance? Another way to do it is to copy the EFX setting from a part or performance. Here's the path ... Disk/Utility, Sound, Copy, Arrow Down to Perform FX copy. There is a similar command in patch mode. When you get back to the performance, don't forget to set the Performance EFX source to be "Performance" not one of the parts.
Note that although you can only select one EFX per performance, you don't have to have the EFX applied to all parts. Some parts can go straight into the MIX buss with as much or as little reverb and chorus as you want.
In general, I separate my sounds into 3 categories:
1) patches which need the EFX in order to sound good. (usually distorted or leslie based)
2) patches which don't need EFX but want to have some richness from the Chorus
3) patches which don't really need chorus (it works well as a contrast)
Then I rout different parts based on which of the three criteria they fit in. If there are no sounds in Category 1, I apply an enhancer (usually taken directly from C68: Pop Pad) to all the sounds to make them blend better.
I tend to store three kinds of Performances in the User bank. Peformances that are distortion based, performances that are leslie based, and performances that are enhancer based. Some of these are splits and some are layers. Note that you can get decent leslie and distortion effects in the synth architecture without using the EFX. For inspiration try playing A57 (leslie speed on mod wheel) and C118 (distortion via the booster algorithm ) after turning off the EFX. Interesting eh? 8)

while in performance mode go to the effect section.then press utility-copy-hilight effect, and there that says ''source'' you can choose where to copy the effects from, performance or patch.ok?
Let's say that you want to copy the 64-piano's effect.then you have to choose ''patch'',go more to the right and choose the location that that patch is...Skip all users's patches and nuala there is the the piano located at pr-a:001.ok till here?
Then press execute and you are ready.just check to aply the effects at the part that the piano is located.turn it from mix to efx.save the performance and that's it.

I didn't know that I don't have to set the efx for all parts! That's new to me - and it's very kewl!!! :D
Thank you so much - how come you don't post so often at the moment?
