You know what I miss guys......THE POLLS!!!!
This forum has no polls!!! Whats up with that!???
I would say, every forum in the world should have normal posts, polls, and a wookie making sure everything is working good.
Man....i miss mp.com already....I am going into mp.com withdrawal....

You know, I have better things to do than read 100 posts and polls daily... I don't like MP forum actually. Too much crap on it, and too much ass holes on it, that's why it had to be closed.

You know, I'm just saying what I think. Wasn't it closed because people couldn't stop talking about Octavarium? In my book, someone who can't respect others wishes, especially a band member they admire, by SIMPLY not posting about the album, is an ass hole.
And I don't really mind if they are flattered or not, I didn't mean to be kind.

But did you mean to be disrespectful?
Someone posted something here where Mike stated why the forums were shut down, and it was actually not because of the Octavarium talk that was going on (or so he says). It was to "build anticipation" for the album...which I still find to be a steaming bunch of BS, but what's done is done.
In any case, he didn't shut the forum down because people were being assholes.

hahahahahahahahaha
but seriously i have no idea why there is so much hatred towards people from another forum. its like racism but.........forumism.
i dunno but it is the same ethic. It baffles me that a group of people who joined their respective forums for, well i'm just going to assume the same reasons - Dream Theater and the love of their music - can all hate each other just because they are from a different forum. I'm not going to rant on anymore, i just think it should be obvious that guests should be treated with respect and kindness, just like anybody else.
Stimpus
06-02-2005, 06:03 PM
on another note though i don't think anybody was wrong to post about the samples in the first place. I mean i like teasers, and i honestly thought they were out legit. Its the people who have been asked NICELY not to post them and still do which annoys me. a personal message from one of the band members of the band you love, and you still go against it? crazy.

I won't go into debate with you, I think we could argue for hours :)
I don't think I need to answer your first question, you seems clever enough to know the answer. It wasn't the goal, which was rather to say what I think, as I always do.
And if someone wants to wear the hat, go for it. It sure fits to some people.
For the last time, if you don't like my definition of ass hole (read previous post), I respect your choice. But in my opinion, it was closed because SOME people were being ass holes.
For clarity, I don't hate MP forumers at all, as I don't hate the 25 people that come from 10 different countries at my job because of their nationality. I hate stupid people, thats all. Actually, I can get along with pretty much everybody.
I wonder why they don't build anticipation on the JR forum.... maybe because people are actually more respectful here.

i like the use of the word "debate". I want to know why more people can't act out that word, instead of resorting to mindless back-biting. I love a good debate, but thats a mile away from arguing and calling each other names.
I didn't mean you are racist btw nismael. i was just saying its the same thing. and i didn't mean you specifically when i said people hating each other. i was just reflecting on the current strange reactions between different forum members. hope no offense was taken there lol

hehe no man really not. But before people go crazy, I wanted to be clear, and nothing is clearer than a good example, for me at least.
And a good debate could include some lost "ass holes", as long as you justify your opinion and its not all about who will come out with the big bad word first. Edit : I know that I'm a very emotive person and sometimes I come up with bad words without thinking them, even more when I argue (read discuss heavily of something) with someone who is close to me. It wasn't the case here. I was writing, so I really meant what I said.

yeah i know what you mean. I hate the whole "its my opinion and i'll shove it down your throat because i'm right and you are wrong" attitude. i suppose a debate can readily create an argument purely because some people get so sensitive at the most ridiculous things. doesn't make sense.
I do see what you mean. I think its a shame that the whole MP forum goes because some people just can't keep themselves under control for one measly week. it does suck, and it sucks for all those who have to put up with the repercussions of that because of behaviour like that. but i suupose the world will always contain people like that.....

Oh and the whole asshole comment - there's a lot to be said for tact, which it seems nismael you're lacking. A debate which is well fought is one that is professional or at least along those lines.
In this particular instance, I'm not going to draw obvious attention to who the current "asshole" is - we already know.

Hey little jerk, could you tell me what is a saintfuck please? Currently, I have no coice to consider it a high level insult, taking into account the moment you started calling me like that.
And do I have to understand by your post that I was one of those talking about Octavarium? I was rather trying to encourage people not to post about it if you have a little bit of memory and as a matter of fact I will get this album in a few days.
And by the way, I have to tell you something. Its better for you not to have your avatar anymore, you looked like a fag on it :)

Ah, good so now you don't fancy me anymore hehe. Keep learning english, it's such a wonderful language. Surprised though, knowing what a fag is but not having the brains to figure out what I meant with ''Saint fuck''. If your musical skills were only half as high as your ability to talk out of your ass, you'd be a true prodigy; otherwise your behaviour and demeanor suggest you are only a child.

anybody else notice that bigger...uglier arguments are going on between people who have been at the JR forum for quite a while now than the arguments and all the fuss goin on about the "new" people/the MP forumers? and that these nasty words are sprouting mostly from recent discussions of these new forumers? i understand we all have our own views, and quite a few here are more outspoken than others...and sometimes stubborn too. but for these differences to come down to harsh name calling, and angry words like ive seen recently is absurd. why cant we recognize our differences and resolve arguments peacefully?
is there any reason for anger anyway? i mean, think about it...what does it get you? cutting other people down? what does that accomplish? you know, things we say if they dont hurt the people they are directed to, it doesnt mean it wont be hurtful to another reader.
another thing, i think sometimes when giving our own view on a subject we sometimes act like we are better than anyone who disagrees or just act completely 100% sure of ourselves. it makes sense (although i dont agree with it) to do this because it makes that person's argument seem more believable. but it also shuts other people down who dont agree, and we sometimes do that indirectly if our argument doesnt do that. it's also a stubborn way of thinking, and i think doing things this way leaves room for offending someone more than you intended and may even lead to the namecalling that has come up. all this namecalling makes me wonder too, what is the point of it? does one feel good after typing onto a keyboard to post on the internet to someone you dont even know or understand...or know what he or she is going through...typing harsh words that like i said before can hurt not only them but anyone else who reads it? does it make one feel good about themselves knowing they could have hurt another? where is the reason in this? isnt life too short to get angry over petty things? over ANY thing? i dont think we should ever be so sure that there are little or no consequences for things we say. and i'm speaking from a standpoint of how it affects others, not a religious standpoint.
it's kind of weird how some of these convorsations end up in threads about new members coming to the forum. it may be their first time here, and these are probably some of the first threads they read. if i were new, i might not want to come here much. i'm not sure that we have to set an example for this forum necessarily, but all this rage cant be helping anything at all.
open your minds. open your hearts. start to care more about eachother and our feelings.
now...

^^^ Alright, its all cool that you defend what you believe in and whatnot, but there are ways to avoid starting a conflict. You can just say, I dont agree, and why, and THATS IT. Dont be like, I dont agree, and I think everyone else is stupid for not thinking like me. Once something like that is said it puts someone else on the offensive and thus, conflict starts, and endless pointless posts start. Peace and love people. Peace and love. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there is also such a thing as common courtesy. Comon peeps. Love. Music. Thats why we are on these boards, because we love music.
