View Full Version : Tell me the reasons why...

Why? Why is it so difficult every time a new album is about to be released, to just wait for the official release and respect the band's whishes?? Personally I don't want to listen to small samples or even to entire songs (if it has leaked), see the new cover-art or anything. We're all extremely excited about the upcoming release, but my opinion is that we all should respect the band and just wait for the big day.
Be aware that this is my opinion, and that I'm not judging anyone who thinks differently. I just wanted to express what I feel. I respect that we're all different, and that many disagree with me, obviously...;)

It's not hard to understand. People get a kick out of getting stuff early. It's got a cool "underground" feeling to it. While I don't mind people ripping off money hungry games companies, it kind of sucks when they do it to one of my all time favourite bands :/

Honestly I could argue for both sakes.
People want to listen before buy. They'll buy it once they like it (that's how I expect it to go with DT anyway, you're either a fan, or you're not). When many bands often degrade in quality of their newer albums, people start to lose confidence. They're then less likely to buy a new album when they haven't heard it yet.
Maybe some people got their hands on new album because they want to be able to 'sing along' once the tour kicks off and have all music memorized to let their tickets be worth the money.
You gotta give the band a chance though, and if you don't buy the albums there's less support for the band. If there are people out here who claim they're real DT fans and download their albums, then I believe they should atleast go to all possible gigs by DT. Most profit is made out of that for the band anyway.

Yeah, we all see this differently. But if it's one thing I have faith in, it's DT's musicianship!! I know that I won't become disapointed about the new album. I have been a die-hard fan for years and the last albums have all blown me away, and I believe in their ability to do extraordinary things! And I believe they will. It's not like they'll all of the sudden just stop making great music!;) But of course, I know many think differently.

Yeah, it sucks that the CD is already on the net and people have heard it, but I know that the majority of true Dream Theater fans, whether they've waited or not will buy the cd and see the band on this tour and other tours regardless...I mean it does suck, but I don't think it makes you any less of a fan...though, respecting the band's wishes is a good idea...I can't wait till the cd comes, I really want to see how this all comes together.
