I'll post some soundclips once I get through all the presets.

Merry Christmas! I'm constantly going back and forth between wanting an Ion or a Nord Lead 3 and a full blown Andromeda, but an Ion is more than enough of a synthesizer to keep me happy, and quite analog sounding.

yeah ive been messing around with the presets the last couple of days- finally some leads sounds that arent totally embarassing. I wonder how difficult it would be to get a good copy of one of jordans leads with this thing...

An Ion. Wow, congrats. It's a great analog sounding board.
You will be happy for many years to come.

hey I thought maybe since there are a few people with ions here I could ask this quick little question:

ok, now when I am on the home screen, where I can go through all the presets, it seems to be constantly going into the edit osc 3 screen without me touching anything automatically after usually a few seconds... is this is problem? how do I make it stop doing that... its a pain in the ass because i have to keep hitting the home button if I want to cycle through the presets, and I dont think it should be doing this. its really pissing me off and im curious if this is happening to anyone else.

The random screen jumping has been dubbed the "self edit bug" by ion users. Alesis promises a fix for this with next OS update. If you want, you can stop the screen from jumping from the home screen when a parameter is moved (it's in the manual somewhere). Or you can use the +1 or -1 buttons to scroll through the patches. They will work no matter what screen you are on.

heh, ok, thats very good to hear. I got mine as b-stock so I was worried. how could something like this slip up though, that sounds kind of fishy to me.

Yeah I thought it was fishy too. Alesis claims the beta testers had no such problems which might be true. They could have switched parts for the endless rotaries right before production or something like that. Even if that is the case, it doesn't vote well for Alesis. You should update your Ion with the latest OS if it doesn't have it already. The newest OS gives you 2 new filter types and it fixes an aliasing problem with the first OS.

On the bright side, the Ion sounds AWSOME :D
