Hi all!
It's winter, you get home with frozen hands and want to play fast & loud and rock the place hard...have you got any nice exercises to warm up the fingers quickly in this period? Both on and off keyboard (I mean, exercises to do without playing and pieces to warm up all ten fingers) are welcome :),
Thanks,
Deceit.

Slowly and carefully stretch your fingers. hands and wrists in a bowl of warm water. Make sure you dry them properly though afterwards!

Warm-up exercises may be a dangerous habit. If you grow accustomed to them you won't be able to play cold anymore after a while. Moreover, when on stage (in particular outdoor), your hands will necessarily get cold, so I am not sure whether or not warm exercises really have their benefit. More important than such exercises is keeping an eye on your wrist and arm positions - another thing to take care of is when it hurts. For the rest, I would recommend you to learn to play with "cold" hands.

Of course, it's a different topic when you use such exercises to strengthen your fingers - but that ain't the same ballpark anymore.
