I was thinking of getting the Keyboard Anthology. I was wondering how accurate it was. I was on a site that let me look at the first page of some of them, and they seemed good, but they didn't include hard parts for me to judge from. I've seen a billion transcriptions of the Metropolis unison solo, and not a single one was even close. It might seem like a strange request, but if someone could show me the first two bars of the Metropolis unison solo so I could compare it to my own transcription, or at least tell me if theirs is the same. If they get this right, I'm getting it.

I know it seems cocky assuming that my transcription is correct, but I put a crapload of time into it, and I'm confident it's right
I have the Full score Anthology, and those transcriptions suck. I looked at the DOE ragtime solo. I didn't even need to play the solo to realise it was wrong. Once I heard it playing, I realised it was really wrong. I had to transcribe it myself, but I can't transcribe everything myself. I don't want to end up with another innaccurate book.

ok for a start its in B major so all those accidentals can go. I can't actually post it up here because its copyrighted. You do have most of it there although just a couple of things to point out:
.The whole thing is an octave too low
.in both bars you have 3 triplet figures. there are only 2. the central one you have is actually 4 notes, which you also got wrong. first bar should be "triplet" e,f,e (remember all sharps - B major, i won't point them out) "straight semi's" d,c,c natural, b. 2nd bar same place - same but an octave lower.
Apart from that it looks fine. May i suggest you buy this book? it's not too much and i think it would be beneficial! saves you having to try work out what they are playing and get on with practicing it!
The book was done with Jordan's involvment and personal fingerings included for every song. We had isolated keyboard tracks for everything and MIDIs for JR's stuff, so what you're seeing is most definitely what was played on the CD, note-for-note. You will not be disapointed - be sure to buy it from JR's online store!

The only thing that I have found not correct in the book is the fourth bar of the Metropolis unison. It says to go A#-A# an octave higher. But, to these ears, it sounds like the play a minor sixth to F#.
remember though, most of the time moore is playing harmony.
I dont have the book, but as far as i know, petrucci is the one that goes up the minor sixth to F# while moore goes up the entire octave from A# to A#.

i thought that...i did wonder wether it was a mistake, but i'm sure aswell its the guitar...
On the subject of the full score anthology i thought it was abit disgraceful. I mean it's really badly done. They should have got just one company to do all of it, and i know they are too busy to check it the guys being busy musicians, but some of the mistakes are blindingly obvious, one that springs to mind is the begginning of Erotomania, when the main theme goes over to semi's on the organ.....its so unbelievably wrong, they musn't play instruments - the people who tabbed it......honestly!! whats the world coming to!!

You know what kills me? I would order the anthology in a heartbeat, but I can't read it due to visual impairment. I am in a DT tribute and these maniacs want to learn Metropolis and learning to live and I have to do it by ear with no assistance from a keyboard transcription book. Even if it is wrong, I can figure out the mistakes, but I am not even close trying to pick it out by ear. Not to mention programming those sounds. Oh, my head hurts.

Thanks for the help. Sorry about acting so cocky. If the transcriptions were done from isolated parts, I trust that they are correct. With a good transcriber and this method, it must be perfect. I had always hoped for this kind of thing. and BTW, I just noticed that my treble clef is set to play an octave higher so the notes weren't above the stave, so it plays correctly.

i know exactly what you mean. I usually transcribe in sibelius 3 now but when i use guitar pro it makes everything an octave out (up or down i can't remember)
You really don't sound cocky at all! its nice to see somebody sure of themselves, but even if it wasn't 100% if it sounded correct it would have been good, i mean, who the hell can tell, its that fast!
