Hi guys (and gals) I'm new to this forum, I have spent all day looking for a keyboard community! any ways, I have just started to learn the keyboard and I am finding it quite tough! it is confusing to do two different things with both hands!
hopefully I'll pick it up soon though, it just seems that there are so many chords, notes, scales and all the music theory to remember!
anyway, at least I know there is somewhere I can ask for help now! :)
cheers guys,
Matt

I was in the same situation a few months back - It all starts to come right after a few months although I'm getting the impression its a lifelong journy in front of me ;).
Welcome to keys, and the forum and best of luck :)

I had to quit playing keyboards 4 times before coming back and playing forever after.

I had to quit 2 or 3 times due to (teenage) arthritic wrists/hands. After not playing for 5 years, I finally told myself I would play if it hurt horribly or not. Somehow, it doesn't hurt anymore.

Welcome to the dark side. ;) Like any other instrument, what you put into your playing and learning is what you'll get out of it, but for myself, and for others as well, the keyboard is the most rewarding instrument.

If you've got a nice comp (Athlon 2.0ghz+, 1gb ram+) and you're willing to invest in a nice soundcard ($200ish, can get them for less. Not made my Creative), you may find it more economical to buy a MIDI controller keyboard and use software synths on your computer.

I would do 2 things:
1: Use the search function on this board, as we've discussed this many times.
2: Give us information about what styles of music you're mainly want to play, and whether you think you might want to be in some sort of band at some point.
3: Spend a few hours at a large local music store and see what instruments appeal to you, and talk to the salesmen.
There are so many different keyboards for different purposes that it's hard to recommend one specific board.
