A friend of mine's 12 year old daughter is enjoying learning and playing classical music. Her parents felt it would be cool for her to be able to watch some really good pianists in action (especially young people). Got any DVD's of attractive charismatic young pianists to recommend?
Thx,
Jerry

Good thing this isn't a boy we're talking about, or he'd never get his eyes over to her fingers!

I was actually going to recomend that one. It's pretty much the only classical DVD I own.
She is indeed very good. I even ripped the sound channel into mp3 so I can lsiten to it on the iPod.
Anything played by Alfred Cortot, Sviatoslav Richter, Michelangeli, or Martha Argerich should serve as great inspiration. OOh and Glenn Gould (especially if you can get hte one where he plays the Goldberg Variations, it's intense)

Evgeny Kissin was always the most impressive pianist to me to watch. He may be kind of funny looking, but hey, lots of musicians are. No other classical master has impressed as he has.
Lang Lang is also a good choice.
If you can get any footage of Van Clibrun or Horowitz, they're the classic concert pianists and both were very exciting performers to watch. I don't know if any of their playing is on DVD, though.
