Ladies and Gentlemen, I have an announcement to make.

I am not going to cut my hair until after the entire DT world tour 2005/2006 has ended. I've never even had as much hair -- ever -- as I do right now. And it's just gonna keep growing...

Yes, I know, I'm going to look like a TOTAL idiot, but I've got to do the long hair thing once in my life. And... what better time than the present?

awesome man! i'm over a year into what you're doing. never had the long hair before now--you'll probably look better than you think you will. i thought i'd look terrible, but it's not bad. i like it. anyway, best of luck! don't give into barbers!!!

I tried it. ThIng is my hair si pretty damn strong and dry. It naturally curls up.

After about a year I looked like a walking bush. A natural afro on a pasty white guy if you can believe it.

Wishing you all the best of luck and strength since going to the barber's on a bad hair day seems VERY much of a good option. But... DON'T DO IT! Remember: you were the winner of the sexiest male representative and I think long hair will look great on ya :D

You find it hard to find short haired men attractive? I have had a period in my life where I felt the same way, but really... some men DO look very sexy still after they got themselves a haircut. Mr. Petrucci is a good example of that ;)

Tips for guys growing out their hair: Get your hair cut 3-4 times a year. Don't neglect getting it cut or you WILL have bad split ends, setting you back several inches eventually when you go in for a cut and your barber notices just how damaged it is. Also, you don't want more annoying 'baby hairs' in your eyes than you have to have, do you?

Comb your hair before your morning shower to eliminate tangles beforehand. Otherwise, when you wash it, you'll be pulling out and breaking loads of hair.

Also, if it seems too curly to look good long, give it some time. Eventually, the weight will bring out most of the curls or, like me, you'll just have curls on the last 6" or so only, which looks good if it's long enough (midway down shoulder blades or longer).

Yeah, definitely get it trimmed from time to time (maybe every 4 to 6 months or so). Brushing your hair is one of the best things you can do for it's appearance. A comb is good for evenly distributing shampoo in the shower. Also, don't assume that you should shampoo your hair everyday. The natural oils in your hair will keep it looking and feeling really nice as long as there isnt an excess. You may only need to shampoo every other day, but I would advise rinsing your hair (ie with water only) every day.

Well, if you want a REAL metal hairdo, take a tip from the Aztec priests - never wash it, but after every ritual human sacrifice, wipe the blood off in your hair. The flies are a problem, but eventually, the hair will crust into an attractive batwing shape.

My hair is growing 3,5 years now, I have about 40 cm now, but since they are a bit curly, they don't look so long.
Some tips:
- Lots of combing, whenever you feel there are tangles, but don't be too brutal.
- Patience! The period form short to long may be horrible, but it's worth it!
- Go to the barber shop at least 2 times a year.
- I amde the experience that using a hair dryer can damage your hair, so I quit using these 2 years ago.

Back when I still had long hair,
I had to get the split ends cut from time to time. My hair was thin (I think a stlylist once described it as "baby fine", but it did grow quickly, and I did my best to take care of it...I found (not sure if it's still true today...) that it really paid off to invest in good shampoo and conditioner from a salon, not just something off the shelf of the grocery store. I can't remember exactly what I used, it was some sort of Nexxus product that claimed to "thicken" hair. I think it worked. :) I also took extra vitamin B12. I was told that helped too.
