Hi everyone!
I'm 15 y/o, never took piano lessons before, and I would like to show you something that I've made. It's a Dream Theater/Jordan Rudess/Liquid Tension Medley that I've made to play in a show at my school in few months (next year). I've done the backing track - guit, bass ... - myself with only one keyboard (Yamaha Motif ES8) and my brother makes the drums in midi with Guitar Pro but the Enigma's drum track for the OTE parts. All the song is played in one shot with a Motif ES8 ONLY. But that's not completely finished (the backing track) ...
Thanks for your feedbacks!
Dave

Great stuff, but I'd like to hear more original arrangements from you. This is definitely a great starting point, but guys like Jordan and Wakeman don't get the big bucks for covering other bands.
What I'm saying is it's fine to do arrangements--I'm big into making them, personally--but you need to pour some of your own creativity into your compositions. I mean, this was a great arrangement for Jordan to make, but this gives me almost no idea about YOU as a composer because almost every single idea in this piece (aside from solos) was preconceived by DT.
So yeah, it's a great achievement for somebody your age to be able to play all this, but you could've impressed me just as much by splicing together wave files in Cubase.
Sorry, but keep reaching for something more YOU and less THEM. I can tell you've got a great ear and solid chops.
Rock on.

Okay... just to be clear:
I know that nothing in this song is directly from me, but this medley is only a demonstration of what I'm able to play, and that's not a composition. I have others own compositions that i've do with 100% of my OWN creativity, but as I said, it's only to show what I can do on keyboard, not what I'm able to create or compose, and I show that with DT/JR songs because I like their music. That's all I want to do with this medley.
But anyway, thanks for your comments guys!

Great covers!! I was expecting much better drums sound from Motif :) Looking forward to hear your originals!
I like the piano & organ sounds that you got there...

I thought that this was fantastic...
I am confused about ktriton's comments... Where does calmar say "look at my composition skills"? He is posting something that he is proud of, I would be too... Very impressive...
Anyway there are a lot of people out there who are considered excellent musicians (and make full time livings at it) who don't compose anything.
I felt like ktriton was searching for something negative to say when a simple "Good job Kid!" would have done nicely. My 2 cents...

lol, not the hating type here so no worries, Phred.
I don't want this to be some long-winded, egomaniac's "brused-pride" type of reply, so I'll just say that Calmer, you got mad skillz, yo. Let's here more!
If there's one thing I'm not trying to do, it's scaring away fresh talent from the music scene ;)

Nice. Very very cool.
Reminds me a lot of Instrumedely on Live At Budokan. I'm right in saying this was done mainly by recording in MIDI (ie you did quantize stuff after you recorded it) - If this was recorded audio track by track then i am amazed. I've never met anyone who could be so in time and play so much flawlessly.
Keep up the good work, dude. I wanna hear you solo.
Loz.
Yeah !! Very good compilation !!! Congratulations man :-)

Lol thank you everyone, and yeah, it was recorded track by track for the guitar, bass and some drum parts (and at some places, there is a real guitar!). The rest of the drum was done in MIDI, and for the OTE parts, it was the Enigma's drum track. This is for the backing track. For the keyboard part, i've play it in one shot. Sure, there is some mistakes.
Thanks a lot again for your feedbacks!
I hope that people at my school will enjoy!
