Hey. i posted this question in the main room, but got no help. i was wondering if anyone knew of a place to go, book to read, course to take, or video to buy that i could learn more about keyboarding. not the technic playing aspect, but the technical electrica terms for the modern keyboardist. something that would help me out in recording, learning more about recording; learn more about synthesizers (i.e. what exactly they are and how to get the best sounds); how to manipulate your keyboard to make some rockin music; etc. etc. was that all clear? maybe thats why i got no response in the other room. lemme know if u have any ideas or dont know what the heck im talking about. thanks.

Sadly there is no all-in-one resource for the things you've mentioned (yet). We all tend to help each other here when needed. But here are a few links to pursue:

SoundOnSound Magazine (http://www.soundonsound.com/). SOS is an authoriative source for gear reviews, sound manipulation, recording, so on. It's based in the UK and one of the few credible, uncorrupted magazines in print. Check out some of their free back issues online for interesting and helpful articles.

synthguy has a very informative article in the Theory of Sound Shaping sub-forum of ProgSounds (http://www.albertorizzoschettino.com/~progsounds/board/) (registration may be required) explaining the basic building blocks of synthesis and manipulation.

The Gear Talk FAQ also has some basic baby-style Q&A on keyboards and synthesis. See also the Overview of Effects, which can help you with post-processing of your recorded tracks, or in the case of modern keyboard workstations and performace boards, apply different effects to your patch(es) in real-time.

Also, I'm always game for a little synth talk on various IM services, though I am not an authority on the topic, I do manage to get around. :)
