Second, is the Sustain piano patch on the Yamaha PSR260 (only good piano on the thing), midly(but unfortunately comes out too heavy when loads of keys play at once) distorted for a scratchy creepy effect, first is using a Soundfont in Fruityloops or something similiar, which is much better sounding, but I like the effect sustain and distortion gives in the first. I much prefer the actual whole package of the sustain one though, even if the other one sounds much more real.

Both are probably on simple scales, though I always feel guilty using Cmaj/Amin, so it's probably the almost-as simple E minor or similiar :P

I find it hard to work out scales on a keyboard... they're no guides like on a guitar :/

Damn I miss keyboardin' >.> Can't wait for my U-20 to arrive. My fingers are probably rusty, though then again most my skill and knowledge comes from guitar playing.

I believe this is me playing the Final Fantasy theme on guitar - http://wetflame.digibase.ca/fftheme.mp3

And this is something I made in Fruity Loops when bored :P - http://wetflame.digibase.ca/towerofinjustice.mp3

If I find more I'll post it...

Still no replies. Damn, I actually have some stuff worth posting now that'll fall on Deaf ears.

Both just under 10 minutes long;

Wind Butterfly: A pretty piece we did; probably our most proud moment. Danny named it. I think it's great. A huge butterly flutting across fields and through forests, getting caught up in a storm and escaping.

Burning Symphonium: A tale of the invasion of a chinese dynasty, the burning down of a town, and the attack on a sacred way of life:

Guitar - Danny Lynch
Keyboards 1(high flute/strings): Rosalie Walsh (Me :D)
Keyboards 2(low strings/flutes): Mr. Le Hobbit (err, or just Hobbit)

We had a guest musician, a Mr. Le Hobbit! Otherwise known as Brendan Baggins(I really can't remember his last name despite having seen him most weekends for thel ast few years).

Originally, the plan was the mess around with one of us on bass, and one on drums, which is why there was two of us at the keyboard. Hobbit used to play piano so we wanted to use him for something, so when I couldn't figure out how to split my U-20, so we looked for instruments that worked well played high and low.

This allowed us to have complex string patterns, Hobbit did a simple low bassy progression, and I did all the messing around on the high end. I kind of like the idea of having a guest musician, even if it's kind of cheating :P I might fix the key on my yamaha in future.

He also does the little "Tom Morello's Flute" solo in Wind Butterfly. You'll know what I mean when you hear it :P He loves that damn pitch bender.

I'll have some of our older guitar recordings up when I get the chance, some of them are pretty good, and two more keyboard based recordings we did. I just wanted to get the best up, after the rather disappointing stuff I uploaded before :) It won't all be as good as that unfortunately... but by the time anyone sees it I'll have most of it up anyway.

Can someone suggest a place to host these mp3s, as they'll run out in 7 days or so?

Just listened to some of the stuff, very nice :-)

But I was a bit irritated, since the chords didn't always fit together... it's like you're playing two different chords at the same time, did you intend that? And I don't get the rythm behind, perhaps you should think about playing with a metronome.

If you wanted it that way I'm sorry ;-) keep on going!

Which one were you talking about?

Yes, there were two different chords being played at once, it was intentional(most of the time). I think it gave it a very full and unique orchestral sound, sometimes they do use incredibly complex chords like that.

I really don't think rhytm was an issue either... are you listening to the earlier sutff or the later stuff? I'm talking about the later stuff.

I referred more to the stuff in your second post. But you're right, the songs don't need to have a rythm if you want to describe a certain atmosphere.

I think I know what you mean. Yes, it's not based off all the same time, it changes quite a bit depending on the "mood". While this is not performed perfectly, it's still something very reminiscant of an orchestral score on a movie sound track, where it wouldn't keep to much of a rythm either. However, since it's a standalone song, there is still a little more (changable) rythm which the guitar brings to it.

I see you made your own film score type music yourself; well instead of this being a more noticable song that comes on when a certain event happens, it would be something governing the emotion of some strongly connected events, though a little stronger than normal to make it more pleasurable as a standalone song.

A sneak peak of a song we're working on, Voyage of Neptune: http://s34.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3KB1QXIB70D0239LQVCG2A9NP8

We really thought we'd done something wonderful enough to be accepted as proper music for once >.>

It seems everytime i Have a grasp on something good, nobody really cares, as there's so much more "professional" stuff out there.

I don't think so. I would have also loved to get more replies on my song, but then... I'm at this board for about 2-3 years now, and the show-off-area exists for now... mmh, some months. Last weeks it was the first time for me to take a look at this, since I don't have that much time always. Reading and posting is no problem, but listening to 4 new uploaded songs takes some time. So it has nothing to do with the quality of your recordings I'm sure.

I listened to the piano solos and the windbutterfly. Im experience it a bit messy and a bit out of rythm, but that might be just me.

Anyway, like the FF theme :)
