I have a K2500 and I was wondering why on some sounds I can hit a note, step on the sustain and then use the pitch bend to bend that note.. But some sounds, when I'm holding a note with the sustain pedal the pitch bend won't affect it... (for example, the JR Lead Program) I hope that makes sense.

it's all depending on the program/setup itself. You can designate functions for the ribbon, pedals, etc. You can have some layers that bend up 2 notes, while others bend up 12 notes *at the same time* as well as the ribbon can act as a fader, slider, or whatever else you want.
*short answer: It's just a setting in the programming of the sound :)*

I think that happens because each sound has it own character.

In synthesizers you can play any instrument you want if you choose a saxaphone then you are a saxaphone player or a guitar then your a guitarist anybody member when Rudess said that too.
