Hi
I own a K2500XS along with a K2500R. I have several questions as to how Jordan is able to change patch/setup settings by using a foot switch?
1. What kind of foot switch is he using or can be used to accomplish this? I'd like to know make and model numbers if possible.
2. How does the K2500 have to be programed to incrementally proceed through a set of patch changes?
3. Do you have to be in Setup mode or can this occure in Program mode?
4. How can I, in Setup mode, create several layers where each layer is dedicated to a specific zone on the keyboard, say piano from A0 to C6 and horns from C#6 to C8, and not have them overlap (play in a zone not assigned)? When I develop the patch; the K2500 assigns each layer to a specific channel. When I use a midi controller to play that sound it only plays the single channel that it is assigned? When I convert the different layers to the same channel than the different layers sound over the entire keyboard even though they aren't assigned to those zones.
I have read the "wonderful" manual that comes with the K2500, including the Midi section, and I'm completely befuddled.

Thanks for all your help; I really do appreciate it.

you have two kurzweil and don't know yet those basic things? lol

btw, here are your answers:

1) You can use WHATEVER footswitch. Is the synth that send the message, not the peda.
2) Go into setup mode. choose your setup and go into FOOTSW soft page. Select the pedal you want to use.. I use SostPd and assing it the value DataInc.
3) Only in setup mode
4) For each layer you have SetRng soft button. Click it then press lower key and higher key for this layer.

A question.. but you even pressed <more and more> soft buttons? oO

If you want to use setups with a non-kurz controller, you have to tweak MIDI soft page. This is because setups uses at least 3 midi channels at time and a non-kurz controller can send only one at time. Usually, in MIDI page, you have Control sets to "both". Change it to MIDI or Local and do some test.

see ya

First, thank you for the time to respond to my questions.

Yes, I have 2 K2500's and still don't know the basics. Who has the time to learn all the details. I try to learn them as I need them and now I need this. I know, too much $ and not enough "common sense".
My response to what you answered:
1. and 2. I answered on my own.

4. Sorry, but I don't understand your question:
"A question.. but you even pressed <more and more> soft buttons?"

I was using the K2500XS to trigger the K2500R. At Church I'll be using a SP88X to trigger the K2500R. Are you saying that the patches that I create, even though the different layers are assigned to different channels (I'm using the mono output from the K2500R) will trigger each of the layers, in the selected zones (with the corresponding associated SetRng assigned to each layer which does not overlap zones), and each layer is assigned to different channels? When I tested this in my home studio it didn't happen. I heard what was assigned to channel 1, in the appropriate "SetRng" and silence on the other zones. On the Midi Transmit page the "Control" is set to "Both", "CrlSetup" is set to "97 ControlSetup", "Channel" is set to "1", "ProgChng" is "On", "Buttons" is set to "Off", and "ChgSetups" is set to "Keyup". I believe these are the default settings. Does any of this need to be changed? Does it make a difference?

Again, many thanks for your expertise. I'm still kind of a newbie to the midi world.

Hi,
if you use DataInc as setting also in the ControlSetup you use as default midi control setup you can increment also programs and not only setups.
Bye!
