Hi all,

I would like to share data between my computer and K2600XS.

I was thinking on buying a usb-scsi adaptor to connect it to the one of the keyboard's SCSI ports.

Is it possible? :?:

Actually I have a 9Gbyte internal hard-disk splitted into 4 partitions inside the keyboard. I would like to use one of them to share data.

On the other hand, have ever used SMDDI (or something like that) to transfer samples between PC and K2600. How does it work? :?

Thanks in advance,

Arkaitz.

Hi there,
in my cave in Florence I have a k2500x hooked up to a Mac computer. The macintosh has an Adaptec 39160 SCSI controller that goes to a SCSI external Hard disk. The hard disk is the connected to a SCSI CD reader and the reader itself is connected to the Kurzweil synthesizer.

So the scsi chain basically looks like this:
PowerMac -- HD -- CD -- K25

Both the computer and the synth can access data on HD or CD, so as far as I understood that's what you would like to do. One thing you cannot do is read/write on IDE internal drives (like the ones in the mac) from your Kurz: everything must flow on SCSI chains.
Hope it helps,
Alberto

Thanks very much Alberto.

Once I have installed all the SCSI chain, I would like to use one of the partitions of the hard disk to share data, but I don't know if Windows would allow to do this.

What SO are using in your computer?

I'm pretty sure that Windows will allow you to do that..but that's no fly zone for me on that subject because I just tried that on my Mac. I use MacOS 9 on my computer.

Kurz reads FAT partitions and Macintosh usually don't prefer them. Considering that it worked for me and my mac I don't see why Windows (which uses FAT) shouldn't recognize that. In addition I also think I read somewhere about this kind of data sharing on windows and Kurz so I wouldn't be worried about that (at least not too much ;) )

Best luck,
Alberto

There's reading on this at Launch Pad

scroll down to "Using the Kurzweil in a chain with your computer"

Alberto, I've been too scared to blow up my Kurz or my Mac so I bought a couple of zip drives and swap disk. That's my simple work around.

Does anyone know if midi can transfer sample data? Or are there reasons why this is impractical?
