Is there a plug-in or software method to turn a gated kick drum track into a sample trigger? Essentially I want to layer a kick drum sample to a pre recorded kick drum track. Any ideas?

Is the original kick on its own track?

I seem to recall that this is possible, You may want to hit a couple of Pro Tools forums with that question. Let us know what you find out.

Yes the kick is on it's own track. I'll try some of the Pro Tools forums and see what I can find. It seems that all I really need is a gate that will send a note on message every time the attack stage of the gate is triggered.
