I thought I'd introduce you all to my latest piece of gear (though it is not a keyboard), due for delivery within the next 5 weeks:

http://www.reprehensible.net/~scrap/65661b.jpg

It is a Bolt+ Custom by Carvin Guitars. Mine will be built sans-middle pickup, and is currently being constructed. Partial feature list includes:

Alder body, hardrock maple neck, graphite reinforced, Tung oil satin finish
Neck width 1.6875" wide @ nut, 2.22" wide @ 22nd fret
Ebony fingerboard
Wilkinson Tremolo system (not shown)
Sperzel™ Locking Tuners
Dunlop Low-Wide frets - .036 high X .106 wide (also not shown)
Phase Switcher (7 positions total)

Carvin makes some really high quality stuff at low prices by cutting out the Wal-Mart-style stores such as Guitar Center, Sam Ash, etc. I can't wait until I get this baby in my hands. :)

Congratulations Cory! Sound palette increasing dramatically yes? great!
Vai has an edorsement with Carvin as far as I remember and so is my school (stage monitors and loudspeakers are are branded that way). You know, I'm a MULE at learning guitar..come on there's not enough space to put my fingers, all those strings stuck together..no way ;)

Keep expanding like this, way to go,
Alberto

Yes Alberto, the palette just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I started playing guitar many years before picking up keyboards, and throughout the years I've bought and sold off various amps and guitars, but I've never taken playing the instrument as a serious affair. For the past year, the keys have been my primary instrument.

Last Saturday I had the priviledge of seeing the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert. Their new lead guitarist, Tristan Avakian, an unknown session musician, totally blew me away with his stage presence and intense but tasteful playing. It reminded me that you don't have to play 128th notes at 240bpm in order to be considered 'good'. After I left the concert, I just knew I had to pick up an electric guitar again. I plan on jumping into the guitar world again at full force and studying up on the techniques and methods that I've ignored for most of my life and go beyond being a bedroom musician.

More news as it develops. ;)

Awesome, definitely keep me up on that, I always take a closer look at people doing such major leaps in their musical paths, mainly because I've always been very far from that: I've always approached other instruments as a transposition on keyboards and piano, on differencies and roles, but never really never had something else in my hands that moved me to take some steps forward with it. So that sounds completely foreign to me and when "foreign" meets me it usually creates "interest". So as I said, keep me up I definitely wanna know more.

In the meantime all the best wishes,
Alberto

It's great to be inspired by a musician in that way. Jordan has got me back to taking keys more seriously after a several-years distraction with bass and then guitar.
That looks like a real nice piece of furniture you ordered. I love the sound of my carvin pickup.

The great thing about Mr. Avakian is that he renewed faith in me. The idea that a true unknown can go from playing with small bands, to being a session musician, to being noticed and picked up for a large, nationwide tour seems like a fairy tale story, but now I know it can happen, and it -does- happen. I believe in it.

Regarding the pickups, I don't see any reason to immediately swap them out with whatever My Current Favorite Guitarist is using. I'd trust stock Carvin pickups before I'd trust stock Fenders.

Nice Scrap! The wilkinson trem is awesome - I love them (but not quite as much as my Parker's trem ;)).

Make sure you get some pics online when you get it! :)

Pics are guaranteed, my friend. At the moment, the home studio is being completely redesigned, including some minimal sound reinforcement in bad spots, so there's going to be a lot of new shots taken after the geetawr has taken its rightful place next to the keys. :)

Cool, I want to take a look as well as soon as it's all set up.

I totally agree with your point, I just wrote something about Lukather's phrasing here in my forum (http://www.albertorizzoschettino.com/~progsounds/board/viewtopic.php?p=145#145).

Nice and clean man ;)
