View Full Version : Roland A90EX Piano Sample
I used a Roland A90 Ex for a long time and now changed to a Kurzweil K2500XS - the only thing I miss (except the weight) is the piano-sound of the A90. The Kurzweil also sounds great, but on stage it's often too soft. Is it possible to get the Piano-Samples from the A90? I still have it so I could sample it myself, but that's very hard I guess. Note that the A90 isn't a sampler, so I can't just export the samples! (So if I say sample I mean the sampled piano sound of it...) :?:

I'm not entirely familiar with the Kurzweil sampling method, but you should be able to plug the A90 into the line in port of the K2500XS, enter sample mode on the Kurz, and capture from a live source.
Start recording on the Kurz, and hit a key on the A90 (generally middle C). This is simple enough if the piano is a single layer. When using it in a program, you'll likely want to modify its AMP section and volume/velocity settings, and so on. I've never sampled a piano sound before, however, and there are probably other users here who could give you better advice on it. You'll probably want to collect more than one sample - enough to cover an 88-key range without sounding artificially aliased on the Kurz.
That would be possible, but as I said I don't have experience with that. I thought about recording different velocity levels by playing the notes via MIDI on a certain velocity.
How many different notes should I record, and how many velocity layers should I use for that?

I liked the electric pianos especially when you really spanked them just like on a real rhodes.
