View Full Version : HELP!: Alesis QS 6.1 VS Roland JV80

So...this is my great question...
I won two eBay bids at a time, unfortunately. The two bids are almost the same price (250 (JV) vs. 280 (QS)) and both synths are working perfectly. Now you understand I must give up one.
Considering I own a Triton Le 76, what of the two synths (Alesis Qs 6.1 and Roland Jv80) will suit best in my setup? There's another difference...the Roland comes from Germany and will just be 282 euro together with shipping bills and case, the Alesis comes from the US and has to arrive in Italy so it will take lots of money more...but the bills aren't a big problem...
And, by the way, I don't need a rigid case because I want a lighter fabric case.
Please answer ASAP, I have to choose in a short time.
Thanks, Deceit.

I have a JV80 is a rather old keyboard it came out in 92 vs the QS in 98.
JV has 16 or 24 polyphony and 1 expansion slot - QS 64 polyphony 1 expansion slot.
JV 8 sliders - QS 4 sliders not certain whats assignable as controllers.
JV stick pitch bender - QS wheels.
Tone wise one would think the newer board might have more to offer the added polyphony is great when your layering tones live.
I've never played that Alesis so I dont know how its tones rank vs the Rolands which also have great expansion cards.

the qs has two expansion slots actually.
ive never played the jv80, but based on the fact that it is older, only has 28 polyphony and ive seen it priced at around 200-300 dollars recently used some places. I would go with the qs 6.1 if you are paying around 400.
personally I am confused why you would bid on either of these boards if you have a triton le 76 key... it is quite superior to both of them. I find the qs (I have 7.1) to be a decent if not simple board, but I would trade it for an LE in a second...

I'm not giving away the LE, that's the point. I'm adding a second keyboard to my setup basically to expand my possibilities with double live midi controls (I mean, two instruments on two keyboards using the LE Combi) and also to have some sounds from another brand of keyboards. I'm not aiming for different synthesis systems (no virtual analog :( ) because I find Analog boards a bit too expensive for their possibilities nowadays, and I don't need them much.
Thanks and keep helping me :))
