in another thread someone mentioned stands that tilted forward so that you hand are at a position that is similar to sitting. I think this would really help, and so i was wondering where i could find one of these...i looked all over the net, or so i thought. Thanks.

An Ultimate IQ2000 or 3000 stand, with an extra tier, will do it. You can position the extra tier to whatever angle you want... then you can set the stand lower, for more stability, and just have the keyboard on the 2nd tier. Be creative, get a piece of wood for the lower tier, and it makes a good shelf for holding beer, music etc :)

I just use a normal stand, with the extra tiers as mentioned, and turn it backwards. In other words, just set it up as normal but place the keyboard with the keys facing the other way... Works great!

I'm looking also for such a stand... some kind like Dereks one. It should hold my Trito Pro.
The Ultimate Stands mentioned above, do they use screws to fix the keyboard?

Well, I went to the music store today and came up with this:

That works, its just what I would of suggested with the Ultimate stand. This is what at I did with my Ultimate IQ 2000, its different from what your doing but shows what you can do with a the IQ stands.

I've got my Moog on a tilt as well. I'll try to post some pics soon.

As far as I've heard Derek is currently using a custom built structure to keep his Nord keyboards tilted (is tilted correct? don't think so) that way. It's called something like the "flying V" if I don't go wrong..I know he's endorsed by Ultimate Supports but I don't know if that's the brand responsible of manufacturing that custom structure.

not even 2 cents,
Alberto

PS: third post of mine in a row! this means that I rule, doesn't it?

It looks like he has an "A" frame stand which is cut down to a lower length then he uses what appears to be the normal arms for the stand. In recent shots it looks like he's using 2 of these stands with 2 boards on each stand in a V shape with him stading in the middle.

I have an A frame stand that I dont use, hmm wondering if I should cut it down to size for some DS type setup. Only bad thing is its silver, I guess a semi transparent grey or blue would look cool over the silver.

Don't worry, THAT angle is only for show-offs  ;)

You can also modify a cheap single brace stand to make it angled. It's not too bad for the old technique, certainly better than having a flat keyboard too low . Try to resist the temptation to fiddle excessively with the joystick and look like a poser, though :P

This one required only a couple of extra holes drilled at the desired spot as you can see. I've since chromed it but I rarely use it now that I'm playing more jazz and less Dream Theater covers.

Interesting, but isn't it too low ?

I agree with you. It looks too low.

I have a X format stand at home and I used to use it to play with a 61 key keyboard. Now I cannot use it with my K2600XS because I can't reach the height I would like to have. :(

What do you suggest buying? Are the Ultimate IQ-3000 stands tall enogh. I'm quite tall and I prefer having the keyboard just at the height of my elbows.

Thanks,

Arkaitz.

The IQ gets as high as they typical x stand but you can place it a bit lower and put your Kurz on the a tier above it, that way you can give it a slight angle if you want and raise it as high as you want. The second tier on a IQ-3000 should support a Kurz.

Depends where you drill the hole!

I experimented with different heights and that one there is ideal for me (I'm a little over 6ft tall) in that it keeps my wrists flat.

Are you talking about drilling a hole where the pin holds the stand angle? If so I wouldnt drill holes in an X stand. If you have the x too narrow then its not going to be very stable.

Without reference to mass distribution physics, the stand I have here in my bedroom is in fact more stable in the front-back axis than the original stand: it now has a base 1.5m wide not 60cm! The only danger is if you have a long keyboard and somebody runs into it in the left-right axis, as the base is still only 60cm or so. Is it safe? I'd bet my triton on it.
