i am having a hard time decding between the two Korg's
I would get an 88 key in either
Am kind of leaning towards the Extreme because of the tube and the vast amount of sounds you can get from it
However, I am also interested in setting up a studio, and recording (I have composed a littile)
So the Studio would be beter for that kind of thing
I like both, but can't really dicide. Any ideas?
Oh, and when i do get one of the above, should i immeidiately buy anything (besides self powered speakers)?
and sorry for pestering you ppl like this
im just hyped up cuz im getting my first keyboard and the times that i've played them, its been amazing.
so thanks for your paitience

Well, if you're looking to set up a studio (where you'll run recording software on a computer), the extreme has better connections (2xUSB), which I think is more handy than burning cd's on the internal drive of the studio... besides, if you go to www.korg.com and compare the specs (highly recommended  ) I don't think there's a reason why the studio would be better than the extreme.

There was some buzz about DACs' quality, which was supposed to be better in Triton Studio. Actually, Triton Studio has more expansion slots and maybe it's meant to be an integrated studio - so, in theory, it's now being replaced by OASYS. Triton Extreme is definitely a live board, particularly if compared to OASYS...and probably it will be a standard in live boards for many years to come...as soon as Triton Classic becomes obsolete or Triton Extreme price drops...
In fact, maybe the problem is there has been no impressive leap forward since Triton's release. From Trinity to Triton, there were quite a lot of news and changes (i.e. sample format)...but apart from OASYS, there's no new keyboard representing a particular innovation in synthesizers' history.
I'm still looking for a JD800 anyway.
Deceit.

Triton Studio IS better than the Extreme in some ways.
You can do disk-streaming to and from in the triton Studio. cant do that with the extreme. also, it allows mLAN expansion, so ur studio will be like the Mo ES with MlAN minus the control surface feature.
extreme cant do that either. plus, the gold color of that baby looks sooo cool!!!! :-D

ok, some new stuff has happened
now both the Extreme and the Studio are $2520 (go figure)
now i've read remarks going both ways. So i need to break down and choose.
Which is an overall better keyboard, Extreme or Studio (remember both are same price now and both are gonna be 88 key)

Wow, a Triton Studio for $2,500? That's strange. They're normally $500 or so more than Extremes, I wonder if maybe they're repricing for the OASYS to come in? The Triton LE's are silver, the Studios are kind of in between gold and silver.
The Extreme has a few new features (check the Korg website if you want the full specifications) including a guitar tube, which adds a new dimension to the sound. The Triton Studio is more built to be a an all-in-one workstation, to record whole projects right at the keyboard. It depends on whether you're going to be gigging with it, recording a lot of music at home, or just play it at home. For gigging or home use, I'd get the Extreme. For home recording, I'd get the Studio.

the triton extreme has a lot more wave rom than the studio. 160 vs. 32 mb in the studio. the EX also includes waves from the expansion cards i believe, s u'll find all the patches from the studio, classic AND some more. but for that disk-streaming stuff, the studio gets the upper hand. plus, there are some capabilites of adding mLAN. i think it makes ur studio into a sound card. and u can also interact with other mLAN devices such as the i88x, 01x, Motif ES, and such stuff.
also, i believe the build quality is different. post the question in tritonhaven.com and see what replies u get. u'll find many studio and extreme owners there.

i'll try the triton place website thing
and yes the studio is kinda goldish silver (whichi makes it silver to me)
o and the reason the studio price is so low, is that one there is a sale goin on, and two, there is a small crack (which does not affect the keyboard in anyway; have tested it myself) on the casing which is easily fixable

I don't believe that mlan is a good working feature on the Studio.
Don't accept that as a criteria until you read several posts proving it works as advertised.
Korg hasn't made a new EXB in a few years , in fact there is blowout pricing taking place. So if you buy a Studio, you might have difficulty finding the EXB's you want.
I know of several Studio owners that were unhappy with the Extreme introduction. They expected more OS development and newer EXB's
and this will flat out not happen.
The Extreme is a much better 'bang for the buck' workstation. The ROM is completely blown out and has numerous up to date sounds in every genre. You will have all of Korg sound's programming genius. I think you can easily solve your recording needs via USB and other devices.
IMO, the color of keyboard is not a major consideration. They both look great, anyway.

ya, i couldn't really care less about color. I just want a keyboard that will just live up to my needs. And according to lots of ppl, the extreme is that keyboard. So i think i have made my decision. Thanks for all your help
