I'm thinking about buying a keyboard, but I really have no clue what I should buy, and I have a super limited budget. I'm not looking for something that's good, just something that will make noise so I can learn and see if it's something I'm interested in picking up.

Preferably, I'd want something that I could take places, and something under $250, hopefully under $200.

I'm really really broke.

If you have any suggestions as to what would be a decent one to start with, I'd really appreciate it.

This site gives you an idea of what used prices are for gear.

www.prepal.com

Look at the used Yamaha PSR boards try to find a newer model in your price range. When you figure out what models are in your price range do some further research on them online to help pinpoint the model your looking for. When you have it nailed down to 2 models start shopping at ebay or music shops for what your looking for.

You could probably pick up an E-MU for that kind of money at the moment, even new. I wouldn't, though, I'm thouroughly disheartened with them after they've basically discontinued their entire hardware product line, despite not having their new products ready yet (they're anticipating putting on a "big NAMM show though"! A load of us at the PK-6 Yahoo group are more than slightly annoyed, particularly those like me who've spent a lot of money on their kit in recent years.

Nice sounding synths, decent quality and VERY cheap now they've been discontinued. Worth a try if you can find one on blowout at your local music store.
