Is it different from SF's ACID 4.0?

Sony bought all the best Sonic Foundry apps. and are now releasing them under their name. Sound Forge, Acid, Vegas Video, etc. Same apps., just different company now.

Wow, that's good to know. I may pick it up at
Best Buy for only $69. It also comes with Soundforge
Mastering included...probably watered down a little, but
a great deal nonetheless.

I've been using Sound Forge for all my digital track editing since version 4.5, Sony has released 7.0 now :)

How professional of a program is Sound Forge?
Do your masters sound like a store bought copy?

It's as professional as something like Wavelab... with the right plugins, you can get pretty close to a store bought copy in terms of end results, although a good mastering engineer will almost always produce better results just cos that's why they're paid all the $$$s for :) I've mastered CDs with Soundforge and got great results, as with anything it's more a case of how it's used than anything.

Acid pro is different from Acid. Sound Forge the full program is (I believe) very different from the stripped down program they package as a bonus on offers. The sound quality is not lower, but the features are.
Best,
