C C# D D# E F F# G G# A A# B

121212312121... i think the "3" help a lot to sounds "legato"... you havent to jump with the "1" finger between the E and F...

Two notes don't form a chord. ;) The word your looking for is fifths

More to the point (although Poopshred is very much right), why would anyone *want* to play chromatic scales in 5ths? Why would anyone want to play chromatic scales at all, for that matter? Ho hum...

He's not talking about scales, he's talking about "power chords". E.g. he uses 1-5 fingering for a C power chord, 2-4 for a C# power chord etc.

Also, two notes do make a chord, it's called:

C (no 3rd)
C# (no 3rd)

etc.

Is that how they're written?

I'd have thought there would have been a more technical abbreviation, kinda like C5 or something....

C5 is the rock way of writing it, C (no 3rd) is the jazz way of writing it. Either way, they're still not technically chords in the purest sense; they are diads... a chord requires at least 3 notes (according to my musical dictionary and theory books, at any rate!)

I think the term we want is "parallel fifths"...if he is playing them chromatically (which is why he's asking for those fingerings) he wants to play parallel fifths...and spacehog, you are right, you need a minimum of three notes to have a "chord".

That makes sence to me in a live situation, but for the given examples of scales, then your pinky really doesnt have anything better to do

What kind of topic is this anyway? We all know that parallel fifths are forbidden according to harmony,so why sweat :p? Anyway I see you 're using 1-5,2-4.Quite a big hand if that suits you!I'd use something like 1-4,2-5 and so on with many glissandos. However I can't think of anything completely leggato and not hand stretching for both voices.Anyway, what do you want these for, man?Imitating a guitar on the synth?
