I have a strong interest in getting a Korg Polysix because of it's lead sound that Jens and others has also the other uniqye things about it.

The Polysix is a great machine, but jens used it for his lead sound only with Malmsteen and a little period after..when he joined in Stratovarius, and espacially in the Infinite Visions Tour, he used a JV1080 going into a flanger / chorus - Delay => Dist Box
Btw the sound that jens has in Krakatau and in other songs of Malmsteen comes out from the Korg Polysix, so if you like that lead sounds, get it!!! nice deal!

Hi!
If you want to take it on stage it may not be such a good deal because these machines are very old!
But for studio it is nice.
But watch out, many of them have battery leakage problems!

A Polysix would be great if you got it really cheap.
Nowadays, you can get those biting leads everywhere
even in inexpensive Yamaha PSR's.

hmmm.. I still have my Polysix, but I'm not sure I'd use it for biting leads. Nice analog strings, analog brass, unison drones...etc.

Yeah, the P6 definitely needs outboard effects to achieve a Johansson lead. The way Jens does it I guess is: P6 --> flanger --> distortion --> stereo delay. If you want to duplicate his sound for studio purposes you can get very close with the Pro53 soft synth from Native instruments. Thatīs actually what I used on the latest jam track!

Quilli it does not duplicate Jens is lead because you need to set up harmonics and feedback too like Jens the tone is Jens but not like that without the other effects also listen to Mastermind you surely will agree with me also Jens actually is great in Mastermind very diffirent then Strato.
anyway thanks for the suggestions man.

Keyboard Hunger: You're finally taking a step in the right direction: You've started using more puncuation. I see 2, count 'em *2* periods at the end of sentences.
now if we can get you using COMMA'S... These little guys ,,, Yeah, aren't they cute?
*just poking fun :)*

Iīm not sure I quite understood what you were after in your post, but the harmonics and feedback are mostly dependant (in the case of the P6 or Pro53) on the interplay between cutoff, resonance and key tracking; parameters that are just as easy to control on the Pro53 as on the P6. Even though my sound isnīt an exact Jens replica (which never was my intention) it is possible to achieve sounds that are almost identical to the P6 on the Pro. I have a P6 as well, and the tweaking is very similar on both instruments. The Pro has a few more features (like sync) but they can definitely be compared.
I agree Mastermind is worth listening to, especially Angels of the Apocalypse! I love the voice of Lisa Bouchelle, she can sing really low for being a lady... Excelsior is nice as well, but all instrumental...
Edit: here is another short sample of a Pro53 lead (key solo from Riot in the Dungeons) http://w1.861.telia.com/~u86117883/riottake2.mp3
