If you're lucky, you can find a Korg Karma for
about $900.00 on Ebay.

Thank you for this first answers.
But if someone can give me more info about how to make my choice...
The DX7, SY77 and SY85 are old models, no ?
Is the DXG-300 good ?

The DX is very old, but thats no problem because they are reliable like hell and built well. They offer very good Keyboard actoin. Maybe a used DX7 with some cool Soundmodules such as Korg X5DR, M1r, Roland JV1010/1080 or Waldorf Pulse (for leads).

Check out this site for a general idea of what the used prices are.

In your price range you should be able to find a number of boards newer then the previous suggestions (not newer than the Karma).

A couple boards that might fall into your price range.

I just wanted to add, the XP series aren't so strong if you own, or have played a Roland synth before. I was dissappointed.

I find it strange when someone says they're disappointed in the Roland synths. They have one of the strongest wave roms in the market, only beaten by the new Yamaha Motif ES, and only by a bit. The Roland has a superb selection of waves in every category, and algorithms similar to some on the Kurzweil with good sounding filters, so you can program your brains out and get a universe of sounds. And they have the best selection of quality rom expansions on the market, tho the new Korg roms are about as good in quality. Plus the effects are very good.

The XP60 and 80 have the best workstation sequencer I've ever seen, and the XP80 has a nice 76 note keyboard. The XP30 is a synth only, but has a huge selection of wave roms in every category including LUSH orchestra, and more than 1400 patches on board! Plus room for two of Roland's SR-JV expansion boards for even more, and 128 programmable patch locations. More with a SmartMedia card. You can stack four voices within a patch, so the sounds can be very big, rich and complex, and the synths are 64 voice polyphonic so you can do intricate arrangements with it.

The Yamaha SY77 and 99 are older synths with simpler sound roms, but they do sound very good, and they also have FM synth engines to give you another very different category of sound. They do have only 32 voice polyphony, and is split between 16 voices of rom waves and 16 voices of FM sounds, but you can do a lot with them. You can also get a used S80 for less than $1000 US, and it's almost as good as the S90 everyone is raving about. It has a full 88 note piano weighted keyboard that many people like, and superb effects.

If you can find a Korg Karma for around $900 US, that would be the one to get. The synth engine is fantastic, and it has a LOT of effects to offer, and it has fantastic expansion options like very good wave roms like orchestral or vintage synth, as well as a 6 voice MOSS synthesizer which is very VERY powerful. The sequencer is HUGE, with up to 200,000 note capacity and 200 songs, and is really easy to use.
