View Full Version : Librarian / Editors?
Which Librarian / Editors is everyone using?
I bought an older version of Sounddiver 2.1.3 - It is really slow and no templates for my GR-1 or GT-5. (Nice editor for my K2500 and JV-1080!)
A recent post on Kurzlist suggested trying Opcode Studio Vision Pro and Galaxy Librarian which are now free for Mac users. [Opcode went Out Of Business '99]

Galaxy works very well and fast! (I was able to create a library of my GR-1 using a generic script) Doesn't seem to like sysex comminication with my K2500.
Any name changes made to a bank in Galaxy is automatically updated for other OMS apps.
Are there OSX Librarian / Editors? (I haven't made the plunge yet to OS X)

Changeit!
It's great. It has clear menus for just simple patch editing. Just like the menus in your keyboard. And where the heck is that in Sounddiver?
I tried sounddiver and hated it. Besides it was buggy, at least for me.

Sounddiver is a large app that tries to support everything out there. I didnt get it either, the app had potential but in the end I lost patience with it. It didnt seem like it was a well written application.
Right now I'm running Roland's XV editor and the one from SoundTower, but I run into problems with both of them that are really annoying. Roland's editor wasn't really built for the XV88 so its missing some options. I haven't tried the latest version of SoundTower but when I used to edit tones I would find that my MIDI Zones on the keyboard controller got set to C-1 for lower and upper range, thus disabling the local controller. I called them on that issue and they may of addressed it, but I've been far too busy to try it again.
Also I've gotten pretty good at editing the board from the menu now. What I would really like is some graphical / intuitive way to edit the Matrix controllers.

What would be a good program to edit a K2500 using the PC? I don't want a lot of features, perhaps just the K2500-Interface on screen...
Does perhaps Kurzweil offer such a programm? I got my N5 (Korg) with an editing-software, all functions can be done on PC and then using a MIDi-dump transfered to the synth.

There's a program for the PC/K2500 series called Kurzsee. It's from one of the programmers over at the sonicmatter board. I don't have a site handy, but I'm sure that if you google it, it'll show up soon enough :)
Great, that's what I was looking for, and it's for FREE 8) thanks a lot. It takes some time when you press a switch until the command is done, but this way of programming is much better for the switches on my Kurz.

I also use ChangeIt!, but it doesn't work correctly here, because I can only receive data and not transmit any - but it's nice to play around a bit.
Updated:
I upgraded to the latest version of SoundDiver 3.0.5.2
It now has support for my guitar synth GR-1 and Boss GT-5 multieffects (no editors yet) and I can't get them to transfer data manually.
The overview of VAST is great and the look and feel is greatly improved.
Selecting KDFX or creating a new Program is more understandable with the visual graphics.
Any SD users that use SD with their K2500/K2600?
I can't store my Setups at all.
My main Prog/Setups are both K2600 and K2500
Setups:
1-100 are K26
101-196 are K25
700-712 custom
800's Contemporary
900's Orchestral
Progs:
1-199 are K26
201-397 are K25
(I removed all duplicate Progs)
600 KFM
700-739 custom
740-749 LM
750-769 KB3
770-799 PnoRom
800's Contemp
900's Orch
[I left banks 400 & 500 for auditioning sounds]
This took just a bit of configuring
SoundDiver only displays the original Setups for a K2500 and doesn't seem to transfer present Setup contents.
It's all I have that will work as a libraian on my Mac for my K2500.
I tried Galaxy but it never worked with K2500.
