I just recently started playing keyboard and have become addicted. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good inexpensive keyboard to just start out? I have this really old Casio Keyboard but I'm ready to get something a bit better. I was thinking in the 200-300US dollar range, so if anyone could offer some suggestions I would glady appreciate it! I enjoy reading everyones posts and learning as much as I can on my new exciting hobby. :D

hah first one with over 100 posts to greet the new guy.

Is there a radio shack around your place? you can get keyboards there that are good for beginers, and perhaps even have pitchbenders and touch sensitivity. If your only starting out I suggest getting something in the 200$-300$ range like you said and then moving up to something later if your still interested and have a bit more skill to deal with. Take me, I had 8 years classical training and the first keyboard I bought was some shit yamaha thing with no touch sensitivity or pitch bend or anything, but after composing a bit on that thing (yes it IS possible) I went and bought my 1000$ roland keyboard this year which Im sure EVERYONE on the forum is tired of hearing about.

pm from jordan rudess: stop talking about your keyboard

na just kidding. Anyway welcome and good luck.

p.s the great thing about this forum is almost everyone is an intelligent musician so you won't see alot of flamming, just go with your own pace.

Welcome!

I just started playign a few months ago so I know what its like - just bought my first synth the other day. Anyway, there's a wealth of information on this site - I have learnt so much just reading old posts and so forth as well as asking questions (thanks guys!).

Good luck :)

HAH! First person with (damnit how many posts do I have?!) ummm [insert postcount here] to welcome the new guy!!!

Welcome!

Patrick is going to have me murdered for this, but... oh what the heck. He's a little weird. :P So watch out for him and Frank... They got so tiresome, Enigma opened a new board for them so they could 'Get a Room!!!'

Enjoy your stay here :)

Oh and Dylan, I went and bought my $6500 keyboard end of last year! hahaAhAHa pwNed!1!one1!1!!~!
...actually I got it discounted down to $4600... which I'm sure everyone here is tired of hearing as well...

Again, welcome to the forum.

Thanks guys for all the useful information. I have only been playing for five days so far and I think I can do so much in terms of time playing. I will continue using this site as a resource since there are so many friendly people here :-).

Hey there, and welcome to the forum (+1)

I might recommend a Yamaha PSR-xxx - I know that there's a sort of stigma attached to owning one, but they are actually quite a good board, if you ignore the fact that the lower series don't have a pitch bender you can make use of.
