I would think that a conservative christian government would try to do the opposite, but hey, its a strange world....

Thats great, don't think it would have much of an effect as a terrorist weapon in SF, or Oak Lawn here in Dallas....

wtf..? :?
If it wasnŽt on BBC IŽd surely consider that a joke, could be straight out of a Mel Brooks movie.
It sure does take some kind of weird thinking to come up with ideas like that...

That's $7.5million they could've spent on important research like figuring out why one brand of ketchup flows more rapidly than another. Oh, wait, they already did that...

"In a variation on that idea, researchers pondered a "Who? Me?" bomb, which would simulate flatulence in enemy ranks.

Indeed, a "Who? Me?" device had been under consideration since 1945, the government papers say.

However, researchers concluded that the premise for such a device was fatally flawed because "people in many areas of the world do not find faecal odour offensive, since they smell it on a regular basis".

LOOOOL, THIS IS SOOO STUPID!!!!!

i think the money they have put into it is a bit ridiculous, and yes, the concepts dont seem..well, "conventional", but i actually dont see what is so wrong about it (besides the money used), i think if they found out a more efficient way of producing these gay bombs and fart bombs it would be fine with me. i mean, think about it, would you rather have us killing people until we complete our "mission" whatever it is? i think it is an overall peaceful resolution to winning a war. i dont see whats wrong with messing with their heads a little bit. sure, it's a little amusing to some, and a little humiliating to those who are bombed on by it, but why do we always have to resort to killing the enemy? i think its overall a neat idea and dont see why it shouldnt be utilized. (except the costs...it's a little expensive IMO)

but one thing i read in that article that i thought was a little disturbing was what the researchers concluded about a flaw in the poopoo bomb:

However, researchers concluded that the premise for such a device was fatally flawed because "people in many areas of the world do not find faecal odour offensive, since they smell it on a regular basis".

that generalization came off to me as a little harsh, what do u think?

well, i dont know if people would want to stop fighting because of a smell, butt why not try some of these things and see how they work. i'd personally rather them give this a try rather than continue on fighting wars by killing other human beings...yes i know, i know that is what war is basically about, and has been since the first war on earth, but why not try something different for a change?

i may have misunderstood this idea, in that i assumed that they were planning on making the enemy just not want to fight and maybe want to surrender eventually....but i dont think i'd agree with it if the army used these new bombs and then after they did their magic ran in on them and slautered all of them.

but if they can win the battles by just using these bombs, and if it minimizes the amount of people dying, then i dont see why not give it a try.

It's supposed to be a hard blow to their morale. The ideology behind it is not to kill them, just have them making out (or maybe going all the way ) with eachother so that when they finally realize what happened, they are all so embarassed that they won't be able to fight nearly as well.

I actually consider farts quite funny. I'd have no real trouble with the "who me" devise. Hmmm

Yeah, me too. It certainly beats shooting them and blowing them up.

Research into non-lethal means of subduing enemy combatants is a GREAT idea. But, even as the article mentioned, it was a complete waste of time and money. If I spent $7,000 on something that ended up being a complete waste of time, I'd be in deep trouble. $7 million is unacceptable...
