Hi everyone!!

I'm from hong kong and i've just sold my Triton 61 key. What i used to do w/ my triton 61 key is mainly--sequencing , and playing in live concerts. I found switching between combis and programs could be quite difficult and there's a very obvious latency.

Anyway--I found a k2500R real cheap in one of the 2-nd hand stores here.
However, as the dealer of Kurzweil systems here is really "Low-profile"---to an extend that they're very hard to reach and get support from them---would you guys suggest me buying a K2500R, still?
and i 've heard people saying that...expanding the K2500R isn't easy and it's very dangerous to carry that out by myself.

But then it's gonna cost me a fortune (like US$250 for a round-trip) to ship the system all the way back to US....for just an upgrade...or a minor fix.... :(

So here's a dilemma---I really like the Quick access mode of K2500R.
If you were me--woudl you still purchase this second-hand k2500R?

Thanks for your valuable advice---in advance :)

all depends of your real needs. I've just got a K2500R with much satisfaction of mine. But stills clear that programming new sounds on a Kurz can't be so easier like on a Korg. After that, the results are amazing. I've a "raw" K2500R, without ROM Block, KDFX, PRAM and sounds great. Quick Access banks are a bless from heaven for live gigs, but you should have a good Master Keyboard and a lots of pedals. For QA, you'll need a pedal that sends Program Change CC. In every QA Bank, you've ten slots, each of them can be filled with programs or setups.

I suggest you to download both Performance Guide and Reference Guide from Support Section of Kurweilmusicsystems.com and evaluate if all of that can meet your requirements.

Despite of programming difficulties, if you'll buy a K2500R you'll get a very and power-unlimited synth. For upgrading, i've just installed by myself extra Sample RAM without problems, but if you're not experienced with electronic assembly/disassembly you'll risk to get off all your equip.

See ya

Thank you very much for your advice!
THat' is exactly the case---this moduel i'm buying doesnt come w/ the sampling option, or any expansion rOM.

for QA---what kinda pedal would i need? I have a Boss FS 5u(isn't jordan using the same model?) at home and do you think it's gonna work perfectly? and if i'm playing some music..which is very much DT-liek...how many pedals will i need?

:)

well i do ensemble my own computer....do you think i coudl handle the Rom installation..etc??

Thanks a bunch.

You can connect any footswitch, the Kurz will scan the polarity when you turn it on.
When you use many setups you might need one switch to step from setup to setup and one sustain switch, the rest depends on your needs to play the songs, for example a foot pedal for filters or volume.
