I want a keyboard for Christmas that is 88 keys and has a great sound. It needs to be under $1000... so what is the best 88-key keyboard I can get for under a grand??

Thanks

Best is not always a matter of fact, its usualy a matter of what you prefer for yourself, what you love the most, what is easy and sounds vest for you;)

If you want suggestions, I will suggest Roland keyboards, because I think they are the most non-electronic and realistic keyboards, in means of sounds and feel. For me, they are the most not-toys keyboards, hehe...

btw, you mean keyboard not synthesizer right?

For specific suggestions, I know the Roland RD-170 should be a very good keyboard. At ZZOUNDS, it costs 900$. 1300$ at Music 123, don't realy know why they are quite similar in their costs..It can also be used as a MIDI controller.

One more keyboard is the A-90 which I'm not sure about its price realy, as most stores no longer sell it(its not sold anymore by the company).
I've just seen it next to the RD-170 played in few places by bands and such...:/

Hope it helps. And don't forget other companies! Like Yamaha Korg and many many more:)

I would personally get an M-Audio KeyStation Pro88, N.I. Kontakt & Absynth 3, There would'nt be anything you could'nt do, as long as you've got a decent multitrack application to host them for composing etc. you could get all that for under a grand.

I gotta tell ya, stay away from those KeyStation 88s. If ya really wanna know more, it should be in a separate thread, but these are real bad new, unfortunately. It's such a great idea, and a great controller.. but it's made so poorly and has had so many problems that it's just a shame.
