hi all..today i purhcased a korg polysix for 200 Euros andi can notice that its not tuned rightly: i can hear that waving sound of a detuned instrument and also if i try to adjust with the knob i cant find an acceptable tune..
I connected the p6 to a tuner and when i was on 440 the knob was turned to left for about the 50 % but i haven't achived anyway a perfect tune cause on the tune it was going down and up from 440..
i dont know what to do..is anyone who can halp me please? or tell me where to bring this machine..?
really really thank you!

Hi,
Maybe try using the Unison Knob and try tuning it , or go many of the Polysix website people have made and e-mail them there quite good.
Also as you have a Polysix you could probably help me figuring out Jens lead solo sound because i'm having a really hard time with my Korg Polysix that machine man.
Bye.

I have a P6 as well and Iīve experienced similar things. The tuning of the oscillators is very dependant on temperature and supplied voltage. Whenever I use it live I have to tune it again on stage, especially outdoors. Also, it usually takes a little while to get it it tune after turning it on. Keep it turned on for a while (i guess you already have) and see if it gets better with a little time.
The slight detune effect could be a result of the chorus/phase/ensemble effect. Check that itīs turned off...
Also, check that the MG (modulation generator) isnīt producing any vibrato type effects...
Bear in mind that itīs a design from 1980! It sure has itīs little quirks...
How do you like the pitch wheel btw? :)

i have checek all of what you said and also with a basic tone it sounds detuned..i figured also that in a octave its goes down of14 tones and not of 12..shit..when i press the C1 is ok but when i press C0 it sounds like a Bb..i think hat have serius problem and i have to check out someone which can repair it..then i start to program something..
I have also the morley Jd 10 and now it is coming the Korg Pme40x pedal board, so i wil ltry to get that Jens Lead..
If i will see too much problems i think that i wil lresell immediately and starting tio save money to get a nord lead or smth similar..
the Pitch Wheel..i have only to practice but for me id liked more if it was able to come down by itself when i bend up ecc..
Have you figured out some cool sound to share quili ?
i have fooled around with my orley but shit...it sounds soo bad!
ehhe..i have to practice i guess..
Bye bye and thank!

Well, I guess it sounds like there is some kind of physical error to the machine... I had to get an integrated circuit replaced at one point also. Canīt really remember the reason right now. Could have been something similar actually... It wasnīt a big problem. I turned it in to the local synth repair man, he found the problem and charged me 30 euros or smth like that...
I lost all the factory presets (which didnīt make me that sad actually... :) )
At least itīs not a very expensive thing. I just concider it somewhat fun to have a real analog synth to toy around with. However, Iīd suggest you take it to someone who does synth repair. As I said, itīs not at all impossible to fix things like that!

Mago_Lari, i'm not an electronics expert but if you just purchased this P6 did you check if the internal battery has had the modification? If not then you will get battery acid leaking on to some of the traces around the battery. Not sure if this will cause the problem that you are having (probably not) but it sure will kill your P6 if not taken care of. Good luck!!!

Hi,
i think the problem is the octave scaling in the oscillators. With a simple tuning knob you can tune a single note, but when you play another note the interval is NOT tuned. Most analog synths have special pot trimmers inside that are used to set the interval between 2 notes (and thus: between octaves). On a Moog this is called "octave scaling". I'm not sure if your P6 has the same pottrimmer, but you could check the internet for a service manual and just go through the "tuning" section. I think that solves the problem.

Hi Mago. I remember <somebody> in <some forum> (bad memory of mine...) posted once the Polysix manuals in pdf format. Even I don't have one and I may never use them, I downloaded them, just in case. Tell me or e-mail me if you need them.
Or I'll post the link if I find the right thread and the forum it was posted in.
Good luck!
