well i should be getting my k2500s soon, hell of a first synth, eh? but it doesnt have kdfx, is that going to be a problem, or does it still produce some crazy results without?
To be completely honest my K2500 had better patch hold before I had Kdfx installed.
Each program or setup has a kdfx studio assigned to it so the patch hold feature is disrupted. Kind of a drag that I lost that feature.
Out of all the options I installed I would say the Pram and the orchestral rom was the best. The piano/daughterboard is ok (and needed for the other 2 roms for a k2500)
Kdfx sounds good but it is so non intuitive.
The sampler/livemode is cool.

The patch hold feature is waaay cool.
It makes your Kurz sound like a
ton of boards live, the way JR does.

alright, cool. thanks. the board already has the stereo piano rom installed, so ill probably go for the orch. rom before the kdfx, if i ever go for it.

If KDFX is ruining your patch-switching abilites because of the lag between switching studios, simply go to the Effect Mode, Control Page, and set Control to Master and pick your Master studio. Now your effects won't change with your program changes and it won't lag.
There are other ways you can control how bad the switch between KDFX studios, check your manual on the way PAUs are allocated and such.
For the record, Jordan is playing a K2600, which has KDFX standard, and switching patches seems to work just fine for him.
Of course we can globally disable the effects from changing.
All I was stating was that the patch hold feature was better on the k2500 without kdfx. (Foot stepping through the Programs or Setups has it's obvious glitches with the stock base objects.
And the kurzweil manuals might be thorough but their indexing and appendex system blows.
It's like it's written by university educated mathematicians while overlooking the needs of most musicians.

Try looking up how to edit an extra long delay...I never figured out how to adjust any echo settings even though I read of guitarist that editted a 10 second long delay with kdfx, they forgot to explain how.
That's my rant even though I love Kurzweil synths.
JR is an exception in that he knows his gear better than most and doesn't use the base objects live. :o
I just got back from a trip to a local music store and the K2600 they had switches much better than my K2500 :?

Just verified my new k2600xs switches much better than my k2500x does.
