Whenever i record keyboard, which, I assume, is what you're wanting to do, i usually just use the 1/4" L(mono) out from keyboard and use a 1/4" to 1/8" converter and plug into my computer's "line-in" jack (different from the mic jack--and you have to go to volume/recording properties and select line-in instead of mic for recording). This elminates any extra noise because keyboards are line-level instruments, and the mic jack results in extra noise and weird levels.
The program I use is Cakewalk Pro Audio. I also have Cakewalk Sonar XL, but I prefer regular Cakewalk cuz it's easier for basic recording. Granted, these are expensive programs...but I may or may not have gotten them with KaZaA  hehe...
Anyway, once in the program, I take the backing track I'm going to use, in this case, the official one from the forum, and insert it onto one of the audio tracks in the program (Cakewalk or whatever you use). Then, I set up another track to record, and just hit record, then play along with the track. Of course, you can also add extra tracks beyond this, depending on what you want to do. Then after you're done, you need to mix it down onto one track, and make an mp3. Hopefully that answers your question.

That's the same way I WOULD do it if I managed to understand Cubase ;) I often tried to get Cakewalk, but I couldn't give it a try yet.
Another question:
I was told that Cakewalk is easier than Cubase -> does it have the same features though?

Yeah, me too

I connect in the same way as hephiroth, but I use Cubase SX to record. Works like a charm. :)

Can you send me your knowledge via email at webmaster@jordanrudess.de, please? I only accept the format .brain and don't allow files bigger than 50MB :P

Well yes... You'd need at least a PC or, even better, a Mac...
The problem with notebooks is that they have a bad soundcard (in most cases)...

i'll better carry my keyboard here then :P
but for some sounds i really prefer my digital piano.. the only problem is the built-in structure.. is like an upright piano and almost impossible to carry :(
