Last night, I had a dream where at some point I ended up on stage with Dream Theater and was talking and hanging out with Jordan, when he pulled out a tape recorder and told me if I wanted, I could listen to part of the new album! So of course I grabed it from him, put on the headphones and hit play, as I did that alarm went off! :( :x

I think it would have been interesting to hear what my unconscious self decided what the album is going to sound like. 8)

No, bad dream. If the dream comes true, you wont hear the album at all. :(

You lost me with that.. elaborate for me.

I had a dream too.
On my left, I had about 3x of all the racks ever produced. On my right, I had the best workstations and analog synths. Right behind me, a church organ and a huge, wardrobe-sized modular system.
Then I realized I was playing with Mike LePond, Mike Romeo, Russell Allen and Jason Rullo...but the song wasn't from Symphony X...it was my own :) (I haven't written a complete one yet!)...
Ok, this is my daydream.
Anyway, I want that modular system.
Deceit.

He means if the dream becomes a reality, then you will be caught in a vicious cycle of never getting to hear the album. Your dream went like this:

1. You got on stage
2. Rudess gave you the tape
3. Your alarm woke you before you heard the album

So if your dream came true, you would be stuck in a time warp where you always wind up on stage about to hear the new album, and you are always awakened again. Kinda like the waking up from a dream while you are still in a dream type thing, only every time you think you are finally awake, you are still dreaming because you eventually wind up on stage again (the dream coming true each time) and being woken up every time.

Wow that's intense. I guess I'll just wait for the album to be released. I don't see it happening anyways considering I've never even met Jordan.

Thanks for that analysis LiquidShadow. 8)

And then the groundhog would always predict a warm winter, day by day the same prediction...

... and you could bet on the same horse at the races every day and win every single day...
make a fortune, mate

And perhaps one day you may decide to stop going to the horse race and spend your money.. on new synths!

But every time he wakes up again they will all be gone, because everything before each awakening will have been nothing but a dream.

ohhh very very true!

and I'd much rather get a new synth than go to the races... unless I could make a fortune from betting and buy Kurzweil over lol

I remember a dream in which DT did not have their keyboardist for one concert and I sprang in as a replacement. However, once on stage, I was unable to play a single DT song (or only even a part of a DT song) and MP and the other DT members were not so happy about that... I was quite happy that this dream was only a dream.

I once had a dream that MP was my best friend, and was always over at my house eating Oreos at the dinner table about 7:00 PM every day. Then there was this weird party going on in the backyard, and I stepped out there and the yard was suddenly twice as big. It was dark out and the sprinklers were on, and MP and a bunch of people were running around aimlessly and holding wooden boards with nails going through them.

Dreams are weird things aren't they?
I had a dream once that me and Kevin Moore were really good mates and I saw Jordan Rudess on the street when we were walkin to a concert and I went up to Jordan to get his autograph lol and he turned into one of my friends who told me to get pissed... and Kevie disappeared! :(

Ha, this has become the official werid dream thread.

I have had a few dreams that involved me being on stage with DT, none of which turned out any good.

One time I was supposed to play keys with Jordan and when I got on stage, I was the only one there. And the only thing on stage was some organ with skinny keys that was older than anything I have ever seen.

lol! thats cool :D
I always dream about DT but in ways I wish I didnt... like when I dreamt that I had access to the backstage rooms and stuff and so I ran back before the show (wtf!) and it was a maze of corridors and rooms and I got lost and them my friend appeared, grabbed me by the hand and said 'the stage is THIS way' and I was in the middle of a field of cows with a stage on a hill but I didnt recognise any one on the stage... so I ran to the stage and they turned into DT but they started playing stuff I didn't recognise... and when I went backstage (at last) Mike Portnoy was dead and James was crying.
I'm the official weird-dreamer.

Well, if that's the thread, then I'll tell you about what MY musical dreams are like!!!!!!!!!! AND YOU'LL NEVER BELIEVE IT!!!!!!

VEEEERY often I dream of some musical melody I've never listened to before and that sounds all times really nice! Then, as I wake up, I immediately try to write it down but I always fail! Is that the true power of dreams? Stream of UNconsciousness, huh?

kevmo_fan

I COMPLETELY believe this is possible as it has happened to me many times. Many times I have come up with not only rock song, but full orchestra scores that I have never hear in my life but are amazing and beautiful songs. I think it shows that the brain if fully capable of coming up with his stuff on the fly. Amazing stuff. Anyone else? :?: :?:

Yeah! You got it!!!! Brain's power is terrific, innit? In truth, sometimes the same thing happens when I'm getting bored during lessons or during long travels: I fall into a catatonic state of mind and "dream" of these superbe musical pieces...anyway the conclusion is the same: I'd never figure out how to write or play 'em again!

C'mon, OKC, tell us!!! Did it happen to you, too?

i actually had a weird dream last night and woke up thinking: ....wow, that was a weird dream i had last night....

didnt involve dream theater but this is what happened...

i was in some place i have never been and my best friend who is a wookie ran away and i thought i never would see him again. for some reason, a penguin was there comforting me because i was very very upset that this wookie had left. i thought it was the end. i some how ended up on a spaceship of some sort flying from planet to planet in searh of my wookie friend. after searching for countless days, i returned "home" and shortly after, so did my wookie friend! when i saw him i got real happy and we ran to eachother and hugged and in a very cheesy-movie way we giggled and twirled around in an open field....

btw, i think this dream may be due to playing too much Star Wars Galaxies... NERD ALERT!

great game though :)
