Static electricity can go to hell.

I was setting everything up in here to record over the new Strawberry Jam in the show-off section, and after I had plugged my keyboard into the computer's line-in, the sound suddenly stopped working. No sound coming out of the speakers when I played, no more sound controls in the control panel, and Winamp wouldn't play anything. Ok...restart. Same thing. Winamp was giving me a message about not having a soundcard or proper drivers installed. Dabbl yoo tee ef?

So I was checking all the drivers and hardware, and everything is "working properly." Went to my dad, and asked him if he knew what was up. We opened the computer up, and everything is plugged in properly and should be working...but it's not.

The verdict: when I plugged in the cable to the line-in jack, static decided to kill the sound card. Static electricity can go to hell.

Luckily, there's an old computer sitting here, so tomorrow I'm gonna try to put the soundcard from that in here. It's old, but it's better than nothing. My dad is pleased at this situation, because now he has an excuse to go get the new computer he was wanting to this week.

Oh, by the way: static electricity can go to hell.

Static electricity can go to hell.

Apparently, it can go to destroy are electronic equipment as well! That is indeed an unfortunate situation, and I hope it wasn't too big of a financial loss for you.

Shit happens, I wouldn't know what I'd do if that happened to my new soundcard!

Hehe, I hear ya! Lost a PS2 controller one time when I went to pick it up off the floor. Moral of the story? Don't touch electronic equipment if you've been sitting in one of those big ol' inflatable chairs for more than a couple of minutes. :D
