Jan "Majesty" Nitsche's favorit subject....
Last night, I saw them at "Ahoy" Rotterdam and wow........ Their show was awesome....
But, talking afterwards here in a pub in Nederweert (Nolan knows WHICH pub) some people REALLY don't like them...
Who of you guys know the reason? :?:
They aren't facists or neo nazi's, so I'm wondering!!!

well, being german, i understand the lyrics and some just make no sense but you ll ve to laugh about them. they re VERY famous over in the US, duno why though, but you re right, the live SHow is really good.
i am kinda neutral towards RAmmstein, they got lots of airplay here in germany though so you re surrounded by their music from time to time...
for sure they re no "neo nazis" or something, who said something else?
I listened to their "RAMMSTEIN" single a while back and liked it, and also liked another song that came out around the same time that was popular. Can't remember the name. Soon afterwards became extremely bored with them because in a sense, their songs all sound the same. I like their sound, but it seems they have fallen victim to the White Zombie Virus.

Yeah, I can't see the deal with them in the US...
I've been there and everybody in school who asked me where I'm from also asked if I know RAMMSTEIN after telling them that I'm from Germany...
The Nazi thing is also wrong, I think some people are confounding them with Böhse Onkelz which had a "Nazi-time"...
IMO, both band suck...

Ah the music is ok, but so easy. And the vocals aren't really vocals.. more like growls. And German, so. not my taste.

I enjoy Rammstein a lot. I'm into a stupid range of stuff but Rammstein really appeals to me. Mutter and Reise Reise both have some great compositions on them, I particularly like the use of the string sections in Mutter. There's some great music there, people don't give them enough credit for that.

Their stagework is extremely brutal.

Well, to give you my honest opinion (again), too, I don't like them either, bought their "Engel"-single when I was a child and I found it cool that a metal band was high in the charts. :)

too much of a gimmicky novelty act without the music to back it up imo. popular in the US because kids like to think they are into this dark, brutal, obscure band their friends havent heard of, when the band is actually quite accessable

But.......
What is the real REASON that some people HATE them?

The real reason people hate them is because their lyrics are ridiculous. Du Hast is "you have" over and over and over.....americans love them cause they are kick ass live and it dosen't matter about the words. Germans hate them because they are making money off of americans...with stupid lyrics.

Well, I didn't know that they are famous over there in the US and I don't hate them - I don't like them? Why? Well, why don't I like Michael Jackson or Britney Spears? It's not the kind of music I listen to!

I don't like the way you say "making money off of americans with stupid lyrics"
I mean of course they're no pain of salvation when it comes to lyrics but that's not the appeal of the band! You make it sound like the band are this money-making machine only in it to make a profit and con people out of their money. They're a real band, they write their own real songs and they put on amazing shows.
It may sound like a stupid thing to say but I think they are very good musically. Not so great at playing their instruments live (and that's where the focus is on the performance and visual show rather than the music) but they have written some fantastic songs. Just have a listen to 'Mein Herz Brent' or 'Sonne' or something. There's some great riffs and really cool samples and stuff going on.

To my opinion you can't judge down their lyrics as senseless. There ARE songs with quite deep lyrics. "Mutter" for example deals with artificial insemination from a childs perspective. Or their latest "Amerika" which is quite political.
There's always some meaning beyond. In fact I heard Till Lindemann (their singer) was very respected in the german poets scene.
Not that I'm a Rammstein fanatic, but I wanted to state that.
...and by the way I also like SatandBuilder's signature!

First of all:
If the lyrics are senseless or not is subjectiv! And they also have some lyrics that are based on famous german literature!
AND TO MR.PETRUCCI:
Hey I love "Böhse Onkelz". They truly had a shity time the first 3 years, but I think they realy made a lot against racism (22 years exactly).
I can understand if someone doesnt like RAMMSTEIN, but its music, you cant realy argue about it!!!!!!

Well...sincerly I found some of their lyrics/songs quite nice, overall in the "Live aus Berlin" album.
"Wilder Wein", e.g., is a song I like to listen to...

I really like Rammstein. Especially because it's rock with german lyrics. This again from a musical view. I don't know a lot of german but I can dechipher most of what they're saying.
For most they have some sort of a descriptive social realistic way of writing about some of the darker sides of humans. For instance Mutter - the unborn complaining about his mother's abortion. Or Mein Teil which is about the german cannibal scandals.
German is a much harder sounding language than english - I think this suits angry rock much better than soft english - and you can't blame Till Lindemann for not spelling out each word very clearly.
When - for instance black metal bands sing - they alter their voices in a manner that makes the lyric totally unintelligeble - just because they want that badass-sound. Kinda pathetic... standing on a stage yelling "booo!! satan is coming!!!" and what you actually hear is braaaaahhh saaaachaaanna rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrah.

Lindemann seems to be a well known poet in Germany and the Germans on this board have to agree that on some points, he writes some nice lyrics.
His presentation on stage is one of the best I've ever seen, only thing is, is that he doesn't have this much contact with the audience.
But... from the other side, the band and especially Till works a lot with fire and if something goes wrong then, you can't oversee the consequences.
In Rotterdam it went wrong, one way or another.
Their keyboardplayer -who always has to do the "dirty jobs" on stage-.
was put in a huge cooking pot, during "Mein Teil". When Till wanted to make a fire under the pot, Flake's hair started to burn...
But the rest of the gig was great, but I think if they didn't use pyrotechnics
and their lightshow, Rammstein wouldn't be this fascinating on stage and... maybe they would become very boring after some time.
But I and more than 20.000 people with me have seen one of the greatest gigs this year!
