some sort of a music stand that can just clip on to the back of your keyboard? I think that is called a lyre? I really dont want to have to buy a big bulky traditional music stand if I can get one like this, and for playing live. If can be cheapy, I dont care, I just want something so I dont have to use my piano with a place to put music every time I want to learn a piece. does anyone know if such a thing exists? it seems like it should.... but I cant find any.

No, I think he means this ones, but not as a single stand, but to clip just at the back of your board. There are many Home-Keyboards who have special connections for it, but on live-synths you'll not find it... I don't know if such a thing exists, sorry.

I have a similar thing that clips onto a music stand... it's made by K&M (I'm not sure that they do one that clips to other things, my Studiospares catalogue is not to hand at the moment!). To be honest though, it's not very sturdy, it's twisted a bit from use over the last year or so :S

I find those particular stands to be flimsy and less supportive,
like those Manhasset types like Jordan used for his lead sheets
when DT did the Metallica and Maiden tunes.

Sounds like a job for Pat. Time to design and build a better music stand.

My suggestion is something with a large flat base that will sit under your keyboard, between the keyboard / stand or surface. The base would bend 90 degrees to come up to hold the hardware for the music sheet stand.

I could draw out plans for my suggestion if anyone is interested.

so NO ONE knows if a "clip on" music stand exists?

Try looking in percussion / drum shops. Percussionists seem to have clip on / clamp on just about everything, so they're more likely to have such a product than anyone else!

I sell a Clip On Music Stand that is very versitile and may work well here. I get messages frequently from musicians who have found a new way to use it. Take a look on Ebay using keywords "clip on music stand" under musical instruments.
