i want to buy expression pedal (or is it called a CC pedal?) to control wah effect and other stuff in my k2500x, so i need recommendations for a good one...
also, anybody know what expression pedal jordan uses live with DT for his wah effect?

thanks in advance,
Amir

I like the Behringer Pedals very much!

They are not so expensive and quite sturdy:

The Yamaha FC-7 is very great for use as Organ swell pedal (Expression). It has a long travel, which is great for that purpose, but might be emberrassing for WahWah control.

On the same topic. What pedal setting on a K2600 would control the WAH. Is it something you have to program from every sound, or is there a general wah effect like a dampener that you just select?

human machine, the wah effect is something you have to program in an algorhithm for every sound.
i want to buy expression pedal mainly for using it to control the wah effect i created for each of my lead sounds, but also for many other things in my kurz...

more recommendations please...

The easiest way to get a wah effect is to run the sound through a lowpass filter with the resonance turned up. Then sweep the filter. You get more wah by turning up the resonance more. You'll probably need to set the keyboard tracking in order to get the same wah sound over the whole keyboard, but wah effects generally work best in the lower range of the keyboard.

The easiest way to get a wah effect is to run ...

Hmmm, for me, the easiest way to get a wah effect was to buy a wah pedal (or plug into the one I already have) ;)

I like the idea of just using a wah pedal instead of having to edit program after program.

As for the Behringer expression pedal, I bought one and it doesn't work with my K2500xs... It is very simular to the Yamaha FC-7 except it uses batteries. (Eats them too  )
As a volume pedal it doesn't fade back to 0 but rather leaks some of the signal.

If there was a way to get the Ernie Ball pedal to work as a Kurzweil expression pedal that would own.

yamaha and korg expression pedals won't work with a kurz according to kurzweil website.
wah pedal would be cool to use, but with creating wah in the synth program the sound can have more flexibility, no? also, if i'll buy expression pedal i won't need a wah pedal, so minus one pedal would be better, cause i already have a sustain and switch pedals.
i like the ernie ball pedals very much but as you said rexx, they won't work with a kurz, jordan uses one of them as an expression pedal for his wah effect and other stuff in his kurz but i guess he dosent connect it directly to the kurz.
the best choice for a kurz seems to be the kurzweil cc-1 expression pedal, so i think i'll buy that one, unless someone can come with a better choice.

I use a MPM Universal Volume pedal, which costs no more than 20 euro in Italy, and works with almost any brand out there - I tried it here with my Kurzweil K2000, my Triton Le and my Alesis QS, and it works perfectly. The drive isn't *that* deep, but enough for great wah wah and swelling as well. The build is quite sturdy (it's still working perfectly), I really recommend it to you all - and hey, for that price I think you could definitely give it a try.

If I new the pot used in the Kurzweil expression pedal I'd modify my Behringer expression pedal in a flash. The travel of the pedal is really wide. (even more than the EB) and these are cheaper (I paid $39 cnd)

I just need to know the requirements for an expression pedal with the Kurzweil?

Linear or Log?
10K Ohm?
100KOhm?

I asked over on Sonikmatter and got this helpful reply

expression pedal

>Technical question:
>I just need to know the requirements for an expression pedal with the Kurzweil?
>Linear or Log?
lin, since it's not audio that passes through, but just a control voltage.
>10K Ohm?
>100KOhm?
Doesn't matter really, anything between 5k and 50k will work, 100k quite possibly too.
>I want to modify my Behringer volume expression pedal to work with my K2500xs.
The one thing where the Kurz pedal is different is the wiring of the plug.
Normally, the three pins of a pedal's stereo plug are wired:
- Sleeve/Shield to the bottom end of the potentiometer (where its wiper stops when the footplate is fully up)
- Tip to the top end of the pot (the other end)
- Ring from the wiper of the pot.
So, in effect, +5 volts lay between bottom and top pins of the pot and the wiper returns the position with anything between 0 and +5 volts.
Kurzweil has the wires on Tip and Ring flipped, which is a matter of three minutes to correct, two and a half of that is the time it takes for the soldering iron to heat up.

:D
Mother.Mosquito makes a good point that these FCV-100 or FC-7 pedals are better for swells than wah wah type controlling, I've always found pedals like a crybaby wah to not have enough travel so it's a trade off.

so what pedal do you recommend me to buy (to connect directly to my kurz, mainly for wah but also for other stuff) the kurzweil cc-1 or the behringer pedal?

YtsejAmir, I'd go with the Behringer FCV-100.

If the EB would've worked I'd say that pedal but it's not working with my tests.

In order for the FCV-100 to work you need to modify a tip ring sleeve cable.
These 1/4" stereo male to male connector cables are standard for expression pedals but you need to reverse the ring and tip on one end to get the Behringer pedal to work with a Kurzweil.
This way you're only modifying a cable not modifying the pedal.

S----------------------------------------------------S

..so Tip goes to Ring
Just be sure you get a cable with Switchcraft or other metal connectors (ie,. not molded plastic connectors 'cause then you can't modify them)
I just make my own cables for stuff like this.

If you're not good with using a soldering gun (it's good to know) then get the store or a friend to modify or make the custom cable.

I connect the cable to Output2 and set the switch to CV.

This feels, sounds and works very well. 8)

Right now I have 2 expression pedals hooked up.
One is controlling volume while the other is controlling data or Mod Wheel... 8)

Of course these can get editted to be different C.C.'s within each Setup.

I wish this wasn't the case but in Program mode you can only select one CtlSetup at a time (you can save many CtlSetup's but only select one to use manually)

Bringing this up again. I' ve just bought a 250k VP Junior and I' m trying to make it work (should I try with a 25K for better?). Have you actually tried using the modded cable with the EB, cause if you pull out a normal TRS cable (from the kurz) until the first click, the pedal works but for a small range (from the lowest position)? BTW the Junior uses a log tape maybe that's a problem...

If I'm not mistaken, the algorithm used for wah is algorithm one, and use the filter called steep bass resonant. That's what I use for wah, but it sounds nothing similar to Jordan's wah leads on ToT. I have no idea how he does that.
