THe leads that are offered in the 2500 and 2600 are things that I created so Kuzweil users could have a lead sound that is sonically similar to my personal sound.
My sound uses oboe-clarinet-sawtooth, distorted guitar, flute, square waves and sine wave stirred together with some spices thrown in.. It's 7 layers thick.
Some of those layers mentioned are more for the feedback effect when I need it. It's funny because there are some of the layers that are very quiet when you listen to them by themselves, but when put in the whole they add just the right flavor. Welcome to Jordan's kitchen
hour!
Tips:
If you have a kurzweil, try putting the clarinet and oboe/english horn waveforms thru a GAIN stage within the algorhythm. So the algorhythm looks like this.
.Pitch-Lowpass-Gain-Amp
Run the GAIN module up a bit hot and it will add bite to your basic waveform. You will need to compensate and turn down the finalAMP stage!!
Try this with many of the various waveforms I mentioned and then report back!
You will all be rocking soon and coming up with your own very awesome lead.
Don't forget some nice tapped delay-with very little verbage.Basically speaking delay works much better than verb on leads..
have fun,
musically,
Jordan

See ya

Thanks,Jordan!

I have made some crazy leads myself.I use a lot of different leads, but the Big one is in my Triton.
I use guitar, tenor sax, oboe, lots of square waves(!) pipe organ, and some saw and sine waves.I have made some velocity-tricks,so the sound constantly changes as I play. When i hit the keys hard the sax and pipe organ is triggered in 3 octaves, making the synth SCREAM!!!!!
I use a lot of effects like distortion, rotary speaker and extreme EQ.

Ahhh seeing this old post made me want to go and experiment again... Currently working on a CRAZY lead with a phat 11 layers  not including the different wave-forms in each of the layers. LOL... can't wait to get it to a satisfactory stage though!

I just started getting my feet wet with creating some leads and pads on my Triton. I really have no idea what i'm doing... but from what I read on here i've at least figured out where is a good starting point. I'll keep you posted if i find anything cool! Thanks...

hi everyone, i am new in the forum... i have a K2600X...
i just want to know if anyone can help me to create the program used in ON THE RUN (Dark side of the moon). I`ve already made a sequence but i have trouble with the cutoff effect of the original sound used. On the other hand, the sound used has a hi-hat sound attached to it and i dont know if it is possible to crete the same effect with the kurzweil.

thanks

I know the sounds jr uses for his classic lead sound, and ive read this thread where he explains to kurzweil users but does anybody know (from experience) how to replicate his unique lead sound on a korg (triton extreme is what i have)? Thanks

I've made my personal Lead sound some time ago on my Triton LE. I stacked 7 layers, lot of typical leads sounds, mixed with a weird "human" sound in the background and even synth bass. I've added some delay and phaser.

But I would say that my sound is cool only because of the phaser:D I mean... without the effects it sound REALLY like 7 layers, and with the phaser, it's like magic:)

I love my lead sound haha :D I'll record some impros with it soon...

Hi guys! I'm having some problems on my Triton while trying to create a cool lead sound. I want my ribbon to slide an octave with my combined sounds. But when i try to use my ribbon, only some of the programs in the combination actually bend, even though each program is set to bend an octave with the ribbon in program mode... anyone who has any clue what might be wrong?

All help is greatly appreciated!!!

im having a hell of a time trying to come up wtih a lead sound on my Motif ES
it seems every lead sound i try to make ends up sounding the same.. and when i throw in distortion it gets all buzzy and the lows and highs sound like crap -_-

any motif users wanna throw me some tips?

much appreciated

Not using distortion is always a good start, especially not on saw waves. If you want something hard-hitting, detune a couple of saw waves on their own, then add some resonance to your filter, and assign filter cutoff (and resonance) to the mod wheel. If you like you could probably fuzz this up a little bit if you really wanted to, as it has a fair amount of 'meat' to it.

Check out progsounds, too - there are a few lead-making tutorials on there, in addition to a load of patch files, IIRC.

Hope this helps.

Hi guys, is there any way that I can create a lead sound like that of JR's in my Roland Juno-D?

How many layers?

I have tried getting a great leadsound from my triton but failed so far. It so hard to get a lead with good attack, polyphonic and it should sound good in all registers as well.

I have one thing to say and it is always the same thing, its not rocket science, to achieve a sound that sounds great to your ears is to practice by creating a simple sound and learn how it reacts when you put some filters, distortion, effects, etc. Then you'll understand better how your Triton works, what you can do with and you'll finally see how great this keyboard is ( lol I dont even have one but one of friends has and its amazing).

P.S. i have a Kurzweil PC3x and I can assure you it is not easy to create a sound. It takes a lotttttttttttttttttttttt of wooooooooorrrrrrrkkkkkkkk and patience that I do not have right now lol.

I have to agree on you, it takes a very long time to create a sound..
and its frustrating when you can't create the sound that you want haha xD
