So, my band just received and had our first practice with in-ear monitors. WHOA. They are *awesome*. I never want to go back to any other way. We've all got seperate mixes (at practice, at least...probably at shows some of us will have to share mixes since it depends on how big the mixing console is and how many AUX sends get taken up by effects), and it's so wonderful not only to be able to hear things exactly how you want to hear them, but to not have your ears ring from loud guitars and cymbals at the end of practice. I especially appreciate this as a keyboardist because I always seem to get lost in the mix (or at least from my ears' point of view...the rest of the band always complained I was so loud through the PA...must've been where they stood at practice). Anyway, now I can hear myself and they can all turn me down or whatever...it's SO awesome.
We're gonna play our first show with them on Thursday night, so hopefully that'll work out because I always hate stage mixes through floor monitors.
Have any of you ever tried using in-ear monitors before? We got like the cheapest Shure wireless ones (the Shure P2TRE2-H2 PSM200 Wireless Personal Monitor System (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=live/search/detail/base_pid/270237/)), but even so, they are such an asset.
Just wanted to share my excitement and see if anyone else had thoughts on them.
