so if you remember my thread about the Trinity Rack, you'll know that I was deeply disappointed that I didn't get it.

So I was back at Guitar Center tonite because I had finally decided to break down to buy the PLG-150AN analog plugin board for my Motif. The guy gets the box out and it looks like it's been opened. So as he's ringing it up, I pull it out to check it out. It's the wrong board... Somebody had apparently bait n switched them on a return and the goon never bothered to check it.

So I'm sitting there bummed and wanting some piece of gear (I know, it's a sad, sad addiction). What I really want is a really cool synth that I can construct some oddball sounding sounds, not nessecarily a general sounds board (my motif does that nicely). So I (in my best sad face) ask the guy (who I had just explained my whole ordeal that happened with the Trinity Rack) what kind of a deal he could give me on the MS2000BR they had that was on clearance. He said, $399. SOLD. So he goes to get it. I figure I'm getting a floor model, but he comes back with an unopned boxed version.

So, anybody have one of these? I'm pretty familiar with most of the controls on the board (from working with my Moog), but any tricks or nifty hidden features would be pretty cool. I've made my way thru most of the factory patches and they're pretty cool. I think I'm really going to have fun with the sequency type patches. Especially since I've been wanting more arpeggiated stuff to play with the industrial band, while leaving my Motif for other duties.

Congrats man,itīs a great machine, i have the Keyboard version and i really love it.
With this baby you can make really powerfull leads and some nice atmospheric or motion pads. Fortunately you can find some incredible patches in the net, or i can send you some of this. For example the leads from Tarkus (ELP) o some nice moogish leads from some Yes albums, and many other signature sounds also you can load the original MS2000 data or even the Microkorg data. The only thing that you need itīs a software secuencer or any program with Sysex bulk data send. :D

Yeah i had this board for awhile. It was a lot of fun. They had some great patches on their. My favorite was i think in the b list...filter 6...the ICE field one...my band wrote a whole song around that patch. I miss it :(

i had to get rid of it though cuz i needed a waited controller.

Whats the BR? I have only heard of the MS-2000 and the 2000R.

The MS2000B & MS2000BR are the last versions of this synth, B = keyboard, BR = rack. Basicly this "new" synth have two diferences with the other version (ms2000-ms2000r) the first itīs the built-in microphone for the vocoder (in the keyboard model) and the second its the factory sound set, o well and the color the MS2000 itīs blue the MS2000B itīs black. No more diferences, same synth-engyne, same osc. and filters ,same fx unit, and even the sound data itīs the same due this you can put the factory data of the "B" version into the MS2000 version and viceversa. Fortunately this machines are totally equal and another plus itīs that you can load the Microkorg factory data into this 2 machines. :)

ok, cool. to anyone who's had this before.. has anyone ever managed to get the arpeggiator to sync to an external midi source? I've tried it from both my Motif and from Sonar on my pc. I've set the MS2000 to accept external tempos, but the sequences played won't change the tempo. Maybe I'm missing something obvious. I set Sonar to transmit Midi Clock, but no dice.

manual no help on this one

Good choice, I have played it on a few occation, a very underraed synth.
