OK unfortunately it seems the connection with one of the keys on my alesis qs 7.1 is messed up, and it will only sound if pressed really hard, much unlike the other ones, and im not sure what to do about this, I opened it up from the front and sprayed some pressured air around the key to get any dust out, and that helped slightly until I hit the key really hard again and now it required hard hits to produce a sound. So its not completely dead, but something is messed up, and this has happened to one of the other keys on the board but then one day it miraculously worked again. What are my options other then getting the keybed replaced (not gonna happen on this cheap a keyboard) or paying someone else to sort the issue out?

I didnt undo the screws directly underneath the keybed, in part because I wasnt sure if that would undone some important stuctures, but it seemed just to be holding the keys to the back, should I do this and try and dust this area out maybe? any other tips to maybe fix this?

Sounds like one of the rubber contact strips under the keys has gotten ripped or worn out. This should be something easy to replace by someone who has a replacement part for it and is familiar with keyboard repair. Without the replacement part, it's probably not something you can fix yourself.

Without looking at the keyboard myself though, it's hard to really tell.

The same thing happened on my Yamaha Cs6x and all I can tell you is to go get it fixed by someone certified to do it. One key on my keyboard cost about $85 dollars to replace, so I wouldnt recommend trying to fix it yourself because you might end up paying alot more it you screw somthing eles up in the process.

I don't know about Alesis but most Yamaha keys with the exception of the piano ones are very easy to be replaced.
