Hello,
I'm currently eyeing this used Trinity Plus keyboard, but it's V2, instead of V3... Does anybody know the differences between the two??? I couldn't dig a lot of info from the seller cause i think his english isn't good.
This should have the MOSS board installed right? So would i be able to emulate Derek's Monster Lead sound (w/ wah) with this keyboard engine??
Thanks!!
sorry.. .should've posted in GEAR TALK.

In answer to your question:
The V2 is called Plus, not V2. The Plus has the SOLO-MOSS board in it. So it´s monophonic and basically a build-in ´Prophecy´.
The V3 has a 6 voice MOss board build in. Well, the only difference is that you can play chords with it, but the sounds itself are not very different. at least, that my opinion.
I have the Plus and I must admit that I will never sell this thing. It´s just classic. I have all the sounds I need. Both the V3 and the Plus have the Monsterlead build in. It´s close to Dereks, but not the real deal. I can give you some specs though.
The biggest advantage of the V3 is that the O.S is a bit faster in use. Soundwise both instruments are exactly the same.

So in a nutshell: for polyphonic action go for the V3. If you use the Moss board only for soloing, like me, maybe the Plus is a bit cheaper. Although I think the prices for both instrument will be not the problem, since these instruments are a couple of years old.

Semmi78 - Phew.. thanks very much for your reply Semmi! I was starting to think nobody uses that board anymore...
OK.. so differences between V2 & V3 is only in polyphonics. It's much more clearer now, and i don't think i'd have a problem with V2 since i only planning to use the MOSS board for solo. The idea of built in Prophecy inside Trinity is just awesome!!!
Thanks for confirming about the Monster Lead as well.. it's a big chunk of my reason to buy this board. I'm gonna ask you for specs when i got this baby on my hands! :)
Thanks for the OS explanation man.. i was confused so many ppl uses different OS and what's the differences between them, turned out it's just speed.
Cheers! Now i gotta bid!

Semmi78,
can i ask one more question pls? What's the difference between MOSS board & "Solo" board???
Having a MOSS board is like having a built in Prophecy right like you said?

Well, the solo-board is also based on the Multi Oscillator Synthesis System, aka MOSS. You can call both board MOSS-boards.
The solo-MOSSboard is based on the prophecy like I told you. See http://www.fiu.edu/~rdiaz06/prophecy/prophecy.html for specs
The Z3 MOSS board is based on the Z1. See http://www.vintagesynth.org/korg/z1.shtml for more info.
Well, both boards in your Trinity have advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage is that you can uses them with the internal effects of the Trinity, which are really great. The disadvantage is that the Trinity lacks some of the Z1/Prophecy controller-abilities (the cool multifunctional ribbon and the XY pad).
You cannot use both boards on the trinity. Its one or the other.
It´s hard to find expansions for the Trinity, so I would recommend to find one with all the options you want.

Thanks for the info dude!
Went into those 2 links, and the specs are lookin' good! I wonder if i can use those prophecy sounds files provided in one of the site.
This Trinity Plus is quite cheap so i'm gonna go for this one even though it's not fully loaded. I probably can hunt the expansion board in ebay later on, and since the exp.board should be quite small that means i'd probably be able to buy it from overseas (i.e intl ebay)
Cheers!

Yes, that would be possible, but expect high prices. If I was in your position I would search for a Trinity plus with HDrecorder and Flashrom. Flashrom doubles the banks of your internal sounds and the HD recorder is very special since you cannot upgrade any Triton with a HD recorder. It was only available for the TRinity.
Good luck finding one! Its a great machine and maybe even better than a Triton. Well, did I say that????????

Thank you Semmi!!
I ended up lose in the bidding, but then i got 2nd chance offer (almost got ripped off by 2 fake 2nd chance offer emails as well..be careful!). So now i'm unpatiently waiting for the keys to arrive next Tuesday! :P
Yeah i agree, i think Triton is just Trinity w/ sampler + more ROM :) I care about sounds more than features that i can get in my PC. I can always record in PC HD.
I'll let you know when she's on my hands, and i hope you wouldn't mind me asking few questions about it here and there.

Thanks Semmi!
The keyboard just arrived today and the sounds are FANTASTIC!!! They're still relevant and quite uptodate to today's standards i think. Drums sounds are really cool.. The original monster lead is a bit thin, but i think after some editing it can be quite fat.
I have a question about combi though.. I wanna make a backup of a sound cause i don't wanna erase the original. It's a split sound, and i want to make it to just using the upper layer. Would you have any idea of how to do those 2 things? I've tried saving once, and it worked. But i think with this one, i have to give a destination patch no so the sounds can be overwritten to that destination no.. Do you know how to do that?
Thanks in advance Semmi!

Congrats man!! I think you will be not disappointed.
I have a tip: editing the internal sounds is a risky business, since you NEED a backup of the original in most of the times. I work with the program Trinitro. You can download the demo of it. Just go to Google.com and type trinitro. Install it under windows and go ahead. This program can read your pcg´s. You can copy, move, delete pcg´s. You can also build a whole new pcg.
With this program I made my sequencial soundbank for live performances, so that I only need to push the forward button to get the next sound I need. Very handy. Well I was not very impressed by the drumsounds. I use the ´processed Kit´ always, but the snare sounds too keyboard to me. The Jazz kit sounds amazing though.
I haven´t given you a precise answer to your question because I don´t have my trinity on my side at the moment (my boss won´t let me!! )
Will look it up for you.

Thank you Semmi! I know i won't be dissapointed!
Yeah i used to edit my sounds in Korg 05W/R but the interface was different. I normally can 'assign' the destination overwritten patch when i'm saving sounds in there.. in Trinity i can't find that option.
With Trinitro, i've already downloaded it, but when i tried i can't send the data to trinity because it's a demo version. This s/w is only useful when we can send data to trinity so we can upload .PCG & .SNG into Trinity. I don't know if i can edit the sounds inside my Trinity as well w/ that demo version.
Thanks for looking it up man!
