You must have seen this book available for funk technique if you were googling..

If I am trying to funk it up, I like to use sus4 triads with a bit of pitchbend to bend into the triad stab (using a thick synth brass stab) and use a bit of modulation, it gives that sort of Prince vibe. There's also lots of clav techniques, I like to have an octave in my left hand and play 4ths with my right, and also double tapping notes with my thumb and index finger. I reckon that book will show you tons of stuff. I basically learnt by listening to alot of Prince, Herbie Hancock, Bernie Worrell (P-Funk & Parliament) etc.

You should check out the really heavy organ sounds you've (hopefully) got. I believe most of it it's about getting the rhytm feeling. As said before, check out the sus4's.

Tjena Eric,
Sus 4 are the best sounding in this especially with the wah Clav sounds.

Also check out old Tower of Power.. the keyboard players in that band were always outstanding.. but Chester Thompson was always my favorite..

Any Tower of Power album in particular ?, I always though they were more fusion than funk, I've never checked them out but Chester Thompson is great, saw him live with Santana and he ripped it up.
Thanks for the tip Tigerfolly... :D

It really depends on what you like, but I love old TOP from the early 70's. The self titled Tower of Power album from 1973 is a good one, but for a good mixture of everything, check out the compilation called "The Very Best of Tower of Power: The Warner Years". It's a good selection of songs from the early 70s. Another good album is "Soul Vaccination Live", which has them in their greatest element in my opinion: on stage.
Their current keyboardist, Roger Smith, has been with them for a while and is excellent as well. I recently found a video of them at House of Blues back in '98 or so and the B3 is nice and loud in the mix.
