Hey kids!

Easy and Simple - I need the guitar hero soulmate of the future that wants to join my own keyboard wizardness/frontmanbeastness and rescue the world from all the BS that is in the mainstream, thus putting "progressive commercial rock" back on its tracks. Think hard.... does anybody know ANYBODY that is dedicating his life to this very cause? I'm looking for someone who has the soul/feel of Slash/Sambora/Gilmour, with the technique of Petrucci/Vai - someone who is more musically adenturous than the formers, but knows how to hold back a little more [IN THE NAME OF THE SONG] than the latters. JR put me in touch with Daniel J., but he's otherwise occupied at the moment....

Believe it or not, I actually found a bass player. I also need the drummer equivalent of my guitarist rant, someone who perhaps could be the next Portnoy. Anyone have any leads at all? I'm in Philly area but hope to move to NYC soon....

Finding the proper people for the job has been a massive headache over the past year - NOBODY plays instruments anymore!!! Hence I figured this forum would be worth atleast a shot....

Also a quick note about my writing style (watch my keyfest performance for starters) - I'm VERY obsessed with chord progressions, new chord ideas, creative harmonies, much more than changing time signatures. My performance inspired Rudess to whip out a pad and pencil to try to follow my progressions, it's that type of intriguing reaction, along with the ROCKING, that I am going for. I understand how difficult it is to be artistic and still have commercial appeal, but SOMEONE's gotta do it, cause sure as hell nobody else is, and I do have some record company contacts..As for overall style relation, think Queen and Kansas, which in my book is a perfect compromise of Bon Jovi and Dream Theater ....

Email me, axlhog@hotmail.com, if anyone has ANY leads...
Thanks for your time.

ROCK AND ROLL,
Doug

Sounds like it'll be a CD I'll want to buy. Good luck, and godspeed.

I hate to burst your bubble but he pulled out the pen and pad before you started performing....and did it for the other performances afterwards so he could teach you more effective ways to go about composing and also point out specifics about your piece.

If we really knew musicians of that caliber, you think we'd give them up so easily? :P I know a bunch that fit that criteria, but they're either a) taken, b) have big egos and no one wants to play with them, or c) so flakey and unreliable, you can't count on them to show up to play. :(

Well, except for me, of course, but I don't think you need another killer keys player. ;)
